Alienware Motherboard doesn’t have place to plug in power switch

I bought a new case and was transferring my parts from the Alienware aurora r7. There is nowhere to plug in the leds or power switch. I heard you could re wire the power button could anyone please help me out?

here is a pic of my motherboard

Do you have a higher res picture? I'm sure there are some front panel connector pins along the bottom of the board.

Alienware computers use proprietary motherboards and cases, standard cases will not have the same connections, you could try rewiring the led/power connectors from the alienware case to the wiring in your new case however it would be less risky and easier for you to just buy a new standard motherboard that's not alienware.

This PC - according to its manual - has this board which houses the power button. The cable coming out of it goes to the motherboard. This is not a standard power button header.

@Seanh1818 If I were you I'd just buy a standard non dell/alienware motherboard. What CPU do you have you can probably find a decent inexpensive board and it will save you a lot of headache.

Here you go, this one will work and is inexpensive. However does not have an RGB header.

This one is $30 more but has some better features like RGB onboard and a header so you can get RGB going in your case or with fans.

Sorry to bother you again. It says this motherboard is for a micro atx. Will it fit in my Corsair ICUE 220t?

  • 7 months later...

You can plug the power button into there. However sometimes when the pc turns on you'll get an error code stating there is no power cable but you can press continue and ignore it. However I'm still going to get a new motherboard because the alienware one is crap. Buying alienware pc was such a big disappointment.
