Pro has slightly more capacity, is slightly faster and has 2 bit instead or 3/4 bit cells of the evo/qvo, which means it should be more durable on average.

@Eigenvektor Well from the stores i'm buying it's out of my price range.

Yeah, i know. The price I quoted above was for the evo. I didn't recommend the pro. It is slightly better, but a lot more expensive.

Boot drive? Storage drive? Extra drive?

M.2 vs. 2.5", any preference?

I mean, I went for an 860 EVO M.2 because I wanted decent speed, but mainly a high endurance SSD. But the MX500 is just about even in most regards.

Although a budget NVME like a 660p or Sabrent Rocket could work too. Just depends on your usage.

If you need a SATA III SSD, get the 860 EVO. I have one and it's super fast and reliable.
If you have a M.2 NVM-e port on your motherboard, get the 970 EVO. It's even faster.

The 860 EVO, QVO and MX500 are pretty similar:

The QVO uses a different memory tech though, that is noticeably slower once your fill it up enough.

That makes the usually pretty similarly priced MX500 in my mind a better option.

The speeds are very similar between all three at stock, so that is not really a reason to go any option.
