Should i bother upgrading my gpu?

My current GPU is this, I know that 3GB of VRam is currently pushing limits with games like the new tomb raider, my performance tends to be fine in games, I ususally try to go for 1080p med-high settings. I found this RX 580 for 160$ and was wondering if it would be worth the upgrade, I hardly, if ever, use features like ansel or shadowplay so I won't be needing things like those.

 

My rest of the build is as follows:

CPU: Intel core I7 6700k @4.2 GHZ

GPU: MSI 1060 3GB

MOBO: ASUS z170A 

RAM: 2X 8GB ADATA DDR4 @ 3000 Mhz

PSU: Thermaltake TR2 600W ATX 12 V2.3 Power Supply TR-600CUS

It's not worth it.

Don’t sidegrade to the 580 just for more vram. It’s barely more performance in most games that aren’t vram limited. Some try to save up to the $200 price point to get a real upgrade to a 1660 6gb, or even higher.

Would be a decent upgrade, and it's priced competitively with the 1650 Super (which performs similarly but has 4GB VRAM). The RX580 competes with that and the 1060 6GB, should be a little faster than the 1060 3GB (it's actually a cut down GPU core from the 1060 6GB as well as having less VRAM), the extra VRAM will help. I find most games don't push over 4GB at 1080p, but will push over 3GB. If you're specifically wanting to play the Tomb Raider games, then get the 8GB card, they're some of the few that will use above that at 1080p, if you run higher quality textures. 

 

EDIT: scratch that, oofsies on my part. Estimated the 1060 3GB as slower than it actually is. 580 ranges from on par to 10-15fps faster, not a very big difference. Like the others said, better to save to around the $200 point at least and try to get a higher card.

Sounds like you don't really need an upgrade. If you need people to convince you to upgrade then you're probably fine, I'd keep that money in your pocket until you feel like the performance is no longer sufficient.
