Hey all it's that time of the year again and I know everyone gets the itch to, but the question is should you? Upgrading! Now that AMD has taken the throne from what I've been reading would it be a good decision to upgrade to AMD coming from Intel or no? Right now I'm rocking an i7 6700k and I've been looking at the ryzen 3800x  it looks like a worthy upgrade doubling my cores and threads.

You should upgrade later and wait couple months, becuase ryzen fourth gen launches in january. But if you can not wait buy r7 3700x or 3800x. 3800x runs hotter, uses more power and probably overclocks better than 3700x

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

Question is: Do you need those threads? What are you doing with the system?

Just get the 3700x. No real need to get the 3800x.

If you just game, the 3600 is likely more than sufficient if you're at higher resolutions.

It's very unlikely that that's the desktop SKUs, and is most likely something either mobile or something else. Desktop chips usually come in the summer.

At most it would be announce, not release and definitely not launch since they didn't announce anything yet, i don't think they'll release Zen 3 until next summer or probably even in the Q3\Q4.

i had that feeling and i accidentally bought a 1000$ monitor (i mean i saved 200$) because i NEEDED 240Hz 1440p TN monitor

Unless you are reffering to mobile. And since we are talking about desktop. Thats untrue, no pointers for that happening.

Yup I had a 60hz 1440p ips and I upgraded to a 144hz 1080p ips and I can't go back unless it's 1440 144hz ips lol. It's far to expensive and I don't have the horsepower for it

1080 should do 1440 144 fps fine if you play on high in many games.

my 2080 runs at 150 at most games on ultra.

and rtx games run at 30-40 frames lower
