If you were shipped the wrong item, the first thing you should do is contact the retailer/seller you bought it from. Their refund policy is irrelevant.

I am in agreement with @ArcticSalad.  Do that first.  They are almost certainly paintable but it’s a lousy solution compared to the right cables.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Whatever store your bought them from should have some sort of policy in place that if they send you the wrong item, you can exchange it for the proper one.

But if you purchased from a private seller, well that would make more sense here. In that case, use painters tape and tape off the connectors at both ends. I don't know what kind of paint you should use (someone else hopefully will) but it could be a fun little project still.

* waves helpfully at the mention of paint*

different paints are for different surfaces.  What are these cable sleeves made out of?  Cloth? Plastic?
