i5 7400 and gtx 1660

Go to solution Solved by Epimetheus,

The site is trash, and bottleneck in itself is a trash word. It's true that the i5 7400 isn't quite up to standard now, but it's still not worth changing considering the market you're in. Furthermore, if you're not having any problems with the pc don't bother troubling yourself with this stuff, that processor is still enough

Hey guys, i need help with some stuff, i have this config:

PC Specs
Asus B-250M Gamer Edition
Intel i5 7400
16gb RAM DDR4 2400mhz Hyper x Fury (4x4)
GTX 1660 6gb Galax
Corsair Cooler AF120
Corsair vs650 650W
500gb HD WD Blue
120gb SSD Sandis

I saw a web site https://pc-builds.com/calculator/ and tells me that i have 38% o "bottleneck" this is so much, my first question, this is accurate?

My second question is, am i having bottleneck? is playable? because here in Brazil things are very very expensive and i want to know if i can stay with this built for 3 - 4 years, thinking in stream some COD MW (new) and rdr2, stuff like that and play casual(about 3h a day only saturday about 8h)

Useless website

your CPU is good for at least 60fps in the average modern game

your GPU is good for 1440p medium-high gaming

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

You should be fine. If you see your cpu is the bottleneck increase the graphics settings to move the load to a more GPU bound scenario. If it is too GPU bound lower your game settings a bit.

Game engine is broken for anything that doesnt have HT.

Just wait for the game ro be fixed, because at this point its very broken.

Edit: also cranking GPU settings does help with the issue

120mm water coolers aren't any better than 120mm air coolers unless your case can't fit something like a Hyper 212, Hyper T4, Gammax 400, or Freezer 33.

You can also look for a Neptwin or Arctic Freezer Xtreme if you just want a big silent cooler.

Most likely just put that money towards replacing your i5 with an R5 2600 at least. with a decent B450 motherboard that has VRM heatsinks.

Then dont buy an aircooler. The stock cooler should be doing a decent job

Depends on the game.

Some won't give a shit about having SMT or more than 4 cores (although those will typically like faster cores)

But others wont run well without them, specifically in fps lows.

Then you're stuck with the system anyways? Not sure I get what you're referring to. Ryzen 4000 will be cheap by then.

Should still just get an air cooler if your case has room for one.
