I finally found a good free screenrecorder for recording games in good picture for Windows but the website says it works for Windows XP, 2003(?), VISTA, and 7.  Will it work for Win 10 despite what it says?

My Portable version works just fine on Windows 10 in majority of titles. Say 90% of my currently installed 30 games will work with fraps.

Some titles it doesn't work on, trial and error based experience in Windows 10.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I haven't used fraps in a very long time but there's a good chance it will still work. You'll just have to try running it and finding out for sure yourself.

OBS works in Windows 10 and does screen recording, but is harder to set up.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

No.  I heard of it though.  My main cause of not using it was because it is a large package to download.

By the way, for those who use Fraps, does the non-payed version record quality video. In 720p at least?

Funny... Fraps is well known for creating very large video files. Recording quality is fine, but you don't really have ways to tweak settings. And FPS will be locked while recording.

Though last time I recorded anything with Fraps was for Bad Company 2 or CoD4. I've been using OBS for BF3 and everything after that.

I better hope so, as i recommended it yesterday. :)

OBS is worth the download. Its sooooo much better then Fraps. But you'll have to learn it a little.
Fraps i like 1990's stuff. OBs is from the 2019's.

OBS looks too comprehensive.  I'm afraid it will take too much space on my system.  Is there any portable build?

The actual space that OBS will take up on your system will pale in comparison to recording any video. Recording for an hour can create video files over 10GB.

Fraps is easy to use but it's pretty much useless for anything other than messing around. The 30 second recordings get annoying rather quickly.

Win10 has built-in features too. But really, if drive space is the issue, software install is least of your issues. Using external drives means you are limited by USB speeds and may need to drop quality because of that.

If only... They still have over 10 years age difference...

Also in OBS you at least have the option to change it. Want it to take less space fine set it up like that. Want best quality also possible.

True, but with some exaggeration it looks so much worse. hehehe. Some people need that extra push to get over that hurdle. ;)
