Maybe VR isn't dead after all...

@LinusTech In the review you mentioned the 'displayport-like' breakout cable connector. FYI this is an OCuLink connector. It's was designed for transmitting pci-express over cables. Nowadays it's mostly used on server motherboards and... the Valve Index.

Why would anyone spend that much money on VR? I think the Oculus Quest or Rift s seems like a better deal... and no lighthouses or anything.

I have a dream... That one day VALVe will release another AAA Single Player game... and it won't be VR Gimmick.

Sometimes I think "I could go grab an OR and check out VR."

Then I look at the gimmicky games that I'd be wasting time and money on.

Lame FPS, roller coasters and Horror walk sims... No thanks.

What about a good FPS, like Quake or Doom?

Was there a good FPS in that list? :P

I mean the original DOOM is pretty dope, but I really doubt I'd gain anything besides a stomach ache from trying that in VR.

Dishonored and Wolfenstein TNO might be the only great ones I've encountered. (Edit: add Fallout 4 to that list.)

Titanfall 2 had really good level design going for it.

My point is that paying $500+ to be stuck playing gimmicky first person only titles is not a good investment.

I just bought an Oculus Rift S and I'm totally fine with it. I feel like this is a very niche device, the lighthouse system is definitely good for tracking room-scale, but like... that's a steep cost.
