Can anyone identify this part?

can anyone tell me what this part is for? It's off the front panel section of the motherboard I'm not sure if it is needed on my new motherboard. I feel like it was added when I took it to a computer shop. Dose not seem apart of the normal front panel wiring.

It's a PC Speaker. That's literally what it's called. Unless you have an old DOS based machine, you don't really need it unless you're paranoid about listening for POST beeps.

You can find them on Amazon for cheap, like at https://www.amazon.com/SoundOriginal-Motherboard-Internal-Speaker-Buzzer/dp/B01DM56TFY/

It's a speaker, helpful for motherboards with a limited 'post code'/debug led selection. Its main use it creating certain beeps (Lets say short and long beeps) so you can run to your motherboard manual and see the issue you're experiencing.

As I said, with post code screens or debug LEDs present not really a nessecity anymore.

Not to be that guy but it's not actually a speaker, it's proper name is a Piezoelectric Sounder and honestly it's only really useful for beep codes, it wouldn't really work as a proper speaker on a DOS machine, they sound really really bad.

Ya, its just an old piezo buzzer used for trouble shooting when you turn the computer on. If its a newer mother board you probably don't need it. If its an older one you might want to hang onto it.
