Possible Pros:
Airflow goes directly straight instead of turning, which can cause turbulence
Colder GPU with direct airflow
Airflow on M.2 slots and chipset

More compact in design

Possible Cons:
PSU on top looks funny and might block IO panel
The PSU is exactly where 5.25 bay would normally go (not really important anymore though)
Hotter CPU from GPU heat

Hard drives are still a thing
It's a vacuum cleaner

That is exactly what the Johnsbo UMX4 looks like and I think a lot of Silverstone cases are like this as well.

Btw, who says turbulence is bad? Noctua specifically creates turbulence for better airflow with their higher-end fans.

There is diminishing returns to air cooling and at some point adding more fans actually negatively impacts performance. Gamers Nexus does these types of tests on all cases they review to find the optimal configuration thermally speaking for CPU and/or GPU in each instance.

Yup - at some point you hit thermal equilibrium and you are just adding noise lol

case would come with just two fans though, like most cases do. It would have the option to add more

Silverstone's FT-02 is arguably the pinnacle of the design you wanted:

The problem is it doesn't really matter in the end. What case fans are supposed to do is circulate air in the case. Airflow doesn't really matter as long as the air is replaced. The air will find its way out (or in depending on the setup) regardless.

Yep can confirm that the RV-02 uses bottom-to-top airflow with some great quality fans. 3 180s on the bottom, and I think a 120 on the top. Gamers Nexus has it as one of the best stock configurations on the market, even still today. Silverstone's also got an Alta S1 on the way, which has a very similar layout with an updated design.

This is basically the Coolermaster SL600M.

GPU temps are great, but CPU temps suffer significantly if you're using an air tower

holy crap i forgot about that case. i was so madly in love with it when it came out but back then it was like 200 bucks which for me was unheard of for a case. now i can get on in good used condition for less than 50 bucks. to bad i already heavily modded and therefore committed to my current case.

i need to save that for the next time some friend wants a system built.
