Can shaking an quartz watch break it? Like if I shake too hard?

WolfLoverPro

Maybe, but why would you pick it up and shake it?

Word of advice: if you care about something, take care of it.

If you’re curious whether something will break, buy a cheap shitty quartz watch specifically to see how it will break.

You can't possibly shake your arm fast enough to damage a watch. It would be incredibly stupid if you could considering watches are designed to be on your arm all the time.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

based on how quartz watches work, i wouldnt think so, but as @Acid Panda said if its built poorly or it maybe genuinely old and delicate, it might not be able to withstand it

If it's bad quality or old then yes shaking it hard could break it.

You're not going to be able to break any half-decent watch from day-to-day usage, you'd have to purposely shake it hard for the watch to get damaged.

This thread makes no sense to me. If you're worried about the watch breaking then why would you shake it hard in the first place?

It's not a question of if shaking it will break it, but how much shaking is needed to break it. It takes a lot of shaking to break an SSD, but waaaaay less to break a piece of aluminum foil.

No, not any shaking will break the watch, unless you use a machine. Usually when the watch stops, its the battery.

You're fine as long as you don't pull a Linus. (yk, drop it)

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.

Like I don't mean swinging  my arm I mean if I pick it up and shake it hard?

Only thing you can break on quartz watch is if forces damage the hour, minute and second hands (the hands that show time). If you're using a digital quartz, they are basically indestructible.

Check out an old Casio G-Shock torture video:

Some tests show G-Shock features specifically, but pay attention to impact, shock and vibration tests.

I'm a bit of a watch nerd, what's the watch model exactly? I can tell you what kind of expectations you can have if I look it up :)
