Overcloking A Ryzen 3 2200g

So I tried an AIDA64 test on it for 10 minutes,

Question, why is it so hot at stock speeds but 100% load? The CPU RPM seems to be only at 1800... Should I ramp that up??? Or doesn't it adjust itself automatically? Please do not that I also have 3 fans in the case...

Another, would overclocking it to 3.8 would be risky at the moment until I add more cooling solutions????

 

 

Here are my specs, btw:

Motherboard: MSI B450m Bazooka Plus

Processor: Ryzen 3 2200g w/ Wraith Stealth Cooler

RAM: 8gb Ballistix Sport

GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

PSU: FSP Aurum 92+ 650W

Case: Tecware Nexus M + 3 fans

Storage: Seagate BarraCuda 250GB, Western Digital WD Green 1TB, Crucial BX500 480GB

 

Yes, I know only have the stock cooler in but I will either get a Gammaxx 400 or a liquid cooling if I really need to. Right now, I see no need to add more cooling since I've seen a lot of people overclocking their 2200's with the stock coolers

hot because stock voltage is ridiculously high. I've seen many 2200G use about 1.25V to clock 3.5GHz

two ways, you could just overclock the CPU while keeping voltages the same, or lower the voltage and not overclock as much.

You should be able to manually set voltage to 1.35v and frequency to 3.8-3.9. Temps wont increase because that's the same voltage it was running stock.

The MSI b450m bazooka plus bios is very confusing. Any chance you can help me on what settings to tweak???

You can even set slight negative offset voltage, which could spare a few degrees. (-100mV cpu core& vcore). 

 

And if you do plan to OC, get a better cooler. Wraith stealth is just not really a powerful cooler. Something like DeepCool Gammaxx300, ID Cooling SE-213v2 would be perfectly sufficient! I would not recommend OC-ing with stock stealth cooler, first, it's loud and annoying as a beehive, second, it has sub-par cooling performance.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

Yea I will get a gammaxx 300 in the future. But right now, this is just somewhat of a training for me. Anyways, I need help on the Bios... I can't seem to navigate it that well. Which of the settings do I change? I've been looking at tutorials but none of them so far have been using an MSI gaming arsenal bios...

You can use up to 1.4v :D

Alright. Another question, what override and offset mode? I know auto just let's the board set the voltages automatically.. But what is the difference between offset and override and which is better to use to set the voltages?

override is just static voltage, i.e. manual mode. offset is... offset based on auto settings.

 

Ryzen has stupid clock speed control when you overclock, just use manual mode.

Update the bios if you can't see that option

 

1.2V? Not surprising though the memory timings could be terrible. I'd suggest you tune the CPU overclocks first before the memory. 1.35V normally for factory XMP profiles (for sticks that have it), 1.5V max for daily use.

Yep that’s fine, double check what voltage you are maintaining in the stress test via a monitoring software. If your voltage is dropping from what you set you may need to up the LLC if your motherboard has that feature. Other than that also try setting an XMP profile for your RAM to a higher frequency around 3000.

I have already updated it but idk what, LLC actually is it might be in front of me but I can't seem to notice it. 

The auto is at 1.35v

LLC? I don't get that. 

As for the RAM, it's auto is at 1.35v and there it's actually on manual since the only 2 XMP profiles are at 2400 and 2666

The auto is at 1.35v

LLC is loadline calibration's shortened name. without it the core voltage drops when the CPU goes from idle to full load. loadline calibration is meant to compensate for it
