r5 2600x + RTX 2060

Two quick questions. Is the r5 2600x + RTX 2060 a good combo? Coming from a i3 7100 + GTX 1050ti. Also, is the RTX 2060 MSI Ventus OC a good card? Thanks.

It's a fine combination.. The Ventus doesn't have the best cooler but I'm sure it'll be fine as long as you're putting into a case with decent airflow..

do you want the 2060 because of its ray tracing, if not go with a different card at about the some price range, it might have better performance, if its for gaming intel might be a better choice too because the i5 9400f its only 170 to 180$ and its much better for gaming

It's the combo I have in my DD. It works fantastically for me. I don't play much in the way of AAA titles, but I haven't seen any unusually high CPU usage in any games I have played.

What other $350 card are you recommending then?

And the 1600 is a fantastic value right now. 90% of the performance and they're going about $120 right now. The 2600 is $150 pretty standard now, with rare dips, until Zen 2 is announced, then it'll start to tick down, right up to retail launch, then it'll drop similar to the first gen, plus competition cuts we'll see.

Depending on your area and prices an R5-2600 or 2700 with a VEGA56 might be a better option.

you should look for that as well, but NOT blower Cards. Only 3rd Party ones!

Even Sapphire Pulse and Power Color Red Dragon are nice cards - if you don't want to do any overclocking or so. If you'd do ASUS Strix and Sapphire Ntro+ are the best options.

@Lone2121 I'd rather opt for core5 9400f (or even used-2nd hand 8500-8600k or such) with Vega56 or with a different RTX2060 (ie.: Gigabyte Gaming OC, MSI Gaming Z)

The cpu would cost roughly the same, but better performance for gaming, less TDP. If I were you...

@VejnemojnenI’ve seen videos where the r5 2600x is only using like 30% usage in game while the RTX 2060 was running in the 90s. Would it really be worth it to spend more on the cpu and less on the gpu?

low cpu usage is kinda "expected" with HT CPU-s during gaming. 2600 has 12threads.

@Stefan Payne I was thinking of getting the power color red dragon Vega 56 paired with the 2700. Would this be a better combo over the 2600x + RTX 2060 MSI Ventus OC?

Stick with AMD, Grab a RX 590 for 200 bucks.  As far as Ray Tracing who has actually played it unless their playing Battlefield and what not.

If you don't need the 2700 and the 2 extra cores it provides then I would just get the 2600(x).. Save some money and get a vega 64 Nitro+..

If you can't think of something that you do that needs 8 cores then you don't need it.. "multitasking" is fine on 6 cores. Even 4 cores. And the 2700 isn't faster so that's definitely not a reason..
