Navi benchmarks incoming?

Well the last E3 that AMD showed up is like 5 years ago benchmarking their new GPU so maybe this E3 is about navi.

Navi will be streamed on E3 (most likely) and the announcment of releasing dates is at Computerx so we will be seeing navi performance on E3

Well they will be showing off their stuff at computex, which is at 27 MAY, but maybe they will give a sneakpeak into their next gen console SOC's, and as you said NAVI.

Well I'm just hoping for Navi tbh, I don't care about console.

Well I haven't checked it yet because I don't really care, there is a new doom game right? Like Last E3 probably featuring Navi or not.

This is the entire press release

AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) today announced it will hold an event and livestream during E3 2019 in Los Angeles, California to unveil the next generation of AMD gaming products. Hosted by The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley, AMD “Next Horizon Gaming” will be held at The Novo at L.A. Live on Monday, June 10, 2019, at 3 p.m. PT.

At Next Horizon Gaming, AMD president and CEO Dr. Lisa Su will present to a live and global streaming audience details about upcoming products and technologies that will power gaming from PC to console to cloud for years to come. The event will also feature appearances by leading game developers who will provide exclusive looks at some of the most anticipated new titles of the year.

AMD fans, community members and press are invited to attend Next Horizon Gaming at E3. Attendees can register for the event here starting today. The live webcast of the event can be viewed on the AMD YouTube channel and Facebook page. A replay of the webcast can be accessed a few hours after the conclusion of the live event.

It says basically nothing concrete.

Well nvm that sucks so much actually, well the last E3 AMD actually go is when they benchmarking doom if I remembered correctly.

I expect that AMD will use Computex (which is two weeks prior to E3) to talk exclusively about Zen 2 and the CPU product stack with perhaps a hint of GPU and saying wait for E3. That would mean they would dedicate the E3 event to Navi. However I wonder how much they'll actually say. All indications would say that at best it's a soft launch (meaning no product availability but full product details) because Navi is currently scheduled for Q3 (July - September with the current rumor being July 7th aka 7/7) but perhaps it's even worse and it's just a teaser with some architecture details and such but no actual product specs.

Just for background information purposes, AMD has been at E3 before.

In 2011 they announced the FX line of CPU's there: https://pcper.com/2011/06/amd-brings-back-fx-branding-for-high-end-cpus-and-motherboards-at-e3/

In 2013 they did some stuff with BF4, running the game on FX CPU's and Radeon GPU's: https://pcper.com/2013/06/e3-2013-amd-tells-the-press-their-gaming-initiatives/

In 2015 they announced the 300 series: https://www.eteknix.com/e3-confirmed-amd-300-series-release/ (well, on the same day.. so I don't think that counts)

In 2016 they announced the RX 470 and 460, the 480 had been announced at Computex a month earlier. https://sea.pcmag.com/system-performance-products/11369/e3-2016-amd-shows-off-full-radeon-rx-line

So uhh.. Seeing the precident, there may be something cool upcoming, but it kind of depends on what we do or don't see at Computex.

I think it'll be exclusively GPU and consumer focused so I think Navi and all Navi related/derived products so basically discrete graphics and if at all possible some console news. That would also lineup with what the audience at the show wants: gaming products.

Edit: unless it's related to cloud gaming then I guess it could be sort of related to supercomputers. They might announce something in relation to Stadia and other cloud services.

so housekeeping:

  • May 27: Computex Keynote
  • June 10: E3 Next GAMING Horizon

and with AMD's description, we might get to see more about Sony's Navi-inside RTRT PS5, possibly along with some reiterations on the aspects of Google Stadia?

guess half of those following may need to wait two weeks longer ._. I'm more interested on the CPU side, so I can probably sit that other half out

Well I'm too fast, I don't know if I need that much source when AMD them self show me one. But more info is more rumors at this point.

It's the Navi announcement. Either MS or Sony are going to be talking about Navi around E3, so AMD will use it as a separate event away from Computex and the CPU stuff. Lisa Su already said Navi was launching Q3, so this is a good place to launch it. They also launched the Fury at E3, I believe.

Yup, in 2015.

E3 is too close to spread some extra salt, but I'm hoping for Navi too.
