Anything out of the ordinary a regular computer shop wouldn't have that y'all look for?

they'll have less selection than online, especially for things like cases, fans, and memory. At my local microcenter, which has a huge selection, i couldn't find any ddr4 memory with cas-latency below 16

actual parts that make sense at a budget, mid-range and high end option from both Intel and AMD. my local store pretty much only has garbage for AM4 boards last time i checked in.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Magnetic tip Mini-B USB cables. These are impossible to find. Only Micro-B and USB-C

Not sure where you're based but at least in the UK, it's extremely rare to have a decent selection. We have PC World who are aimed at the mass market and don't even really stock gaming laptops and only a few unbalanced Gaming Desktops. The extent of their parts section is a few overpriced GPUs, some slow RAM, and then some of the stuff we need but can run out like thermal paste. They have some storage but other than that not very much at all.

No CPUs, no cases, no MOBOs. It's a dire state.

I'd say stock a wide range of parts from the lower end parts normally reserved for HTPCs (where gaming isn't a consideration) up to High End consumer. You could look at the HEDT space but I would expect the demand to be too low to make it worth it.

Cable extensions and psu cable replacement kits. I have some reasonably good stores in my city but those things have to always be ordered online it seems, local has next to nothing
