Am I the only one who has 2 keyboards at my desk other than Taran?

KING OF THE DIRTY DANS

I use a Model M for typing and a k70 RGB when gaming.

Is this a common practice to have 2 boards?

No, I use two, but unlike you I have a purpose for two xD
You should start using keyboard shortcuts to shortcuts to keyboar-cuts to keyboardshortcuts.

And shortcut the keyboard--wait don't do that xD

Not sure, but I have two trackballs and a vertical mouse plus one of those remote sized keyboards, so I guess it's fine.

I used to have three trackballs and a vertical mouse, but I never actually used the third one. I mean, why wouldn't you want to have a pointing device for your left hand?

The two keyboard thing, however, I do not get. Looks uncomfortable as hell. And it's faster to type a short key sequence for shortcuts than to reach over to another keyboard. But I guess that only works for Linux. On Windows you just have to keep adding epicycles, ...

I sometimes have up to 4. Most of my boards are 65, 60 or 40%s so they're quite small. I just like to fiddle with them.

I have several that I switch between because I can't decide which I like better.

Yeah I'm thinking i want to get a split ortho kb like 60% with hotswap, programmable with layers,  rgb backlit and underlighting,

Usbc, Aluminium case and brass weighed

Does this even exist lol

Id throw 1k at that

No.

There is a 60% Ortho with hotswap, Preonic v3 (on Massdrop right now) but it's not split.

And there are split ortho 60% but they are not hot swap and don't have aluminum case.

Yeah i know I'm always keeping an eye out on customized ones close

I'm getting pretty good at typing on dual genovation 682u's but still having small issues with characters so i could see me moving to split orthos but need programmable layers for cad

If you're really serious about it and you're willing to go deep down the rabbit hole of fully custom, you can get a split 60% PCBs, (like this nyquist), do a hot-swap conversion, and then commission someone to mill an aluminum case for you.

Nice

Will look at this when i get home

See that there is case files too with kerf

Hmm

Does it have layer support?

On phone atm also rgb back lit or would all be hot swap leds conversion too?

Under light isn't that important if this is that close

but is that something that could be piggy backed off usb?

You need to add a microcontroller like this or any that has that same foot print. If that microcontroller runs qmk/tmk, and the vast majority do, then you have layers.

Since this board has through hole LEDs you will need to hotswap mod both the switches and LEDs or just not use LEDs

I wish. I want a model m too. But got sucked in by the audio rabbit hole instead of the mechanical keyboard one
