Hi,

In less than a week i have to move house, and i can't get a van to move my stuff until the 7th of feb. So i can ether take my gaming PC(its a mid tower) and monitor in suitcases on the ferry, or i can't wait two weeks and move them with the van. I don't like the idea of leaving them for for two weeks.

Please help.

Use some type of foam and fill the inside with it tight or you could disassemble it and reassemble it at your new place

Hope I could help!

If you just wait until you get the van, I think that will lower the chances of your PC getting damaged.

Remove the HDD and GPU(s) then you are free to take it in a suitcase with little/no risk. That is what I would do but if for some reason you can't do that the van would be the safest option.

I originally had "and remove heatsinks" in the post but I saw you had a 212 evo and I thought it would be fine. If you are willing to get new thermal paste then you could take the cooler off.

Remove the cooler as well. I would suggest removing the cooler even if the system was being put in a moving van. The constant vibration of a moving vehicle would not be good.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

you could disassemble it fully, then just move the case with the van, with closed cell foam, of course

this would be the compromise between the safest and easiest.

I've moved my entire pc + 2 monitors inside a luggage before, because I have to abandon my case - don't do it lol.

saving mobo, psu and most cables in case then safely putting it in the original box + foam the case up would be the most ideal way to do it as stated above.

don't forget bubble wrap for your HDDs and GPUs, don't want them taking unnecessary risks :)

Check out the build: Used to be Obot, now Lilith

Use screws instead of plastic clips on GPU and HDDs, cover whole thing with towels or clothes. No problems. I've even let it drop/fall few times last time I was at Assembly. No damage on major components.

If you still have the box for your monitor, it should be doable.

At least your PC is only a mid-tower. Imagine trying to move a fully loaded Cosmos II or Enthoo Primo!

Ok i have happily managed to get the van this weekend, which means i don't need to take my PC on the ferry so that's good. When i take it in the van i will take the GPU and HDDs out, i will put them in boxes and bubble wrap so they should be safe.

I've moved my PCs around so much, and it hasn't been damaged in anyway. I tend to put it in the back of my car, either in the boot, or on the backseat with a seat belt. The majority of people that I've talked to when they're shipping or taking their PC overseas take out the GPU and hard drives and package them separately.
