Got my SeaSonic PRIME Ultra Gold 550W today, best word to describe the unboxing experience is simply luxury. I'm surprised, is all.

I've seen it mentioned a few times that this unit can be a bit noisy, but I noticed there was a "Hybrid Mode" button, which enables a fanless mode when under low load. Can anyone vouch for how effective "Hybrid Mode" is in terms of noise?

Its called noisy because on some reviews they run psus in hotboxes with 34-45C temps. So accurate if you live without aircon in India?

That feeling when 550w units rated higher then their 1kw brethren?

Is there any easy to digest material why ”units with x not be placed above tier x"?

especially why g3s no longer best units ever

I'll find out soon enough, just waiting for the rest of the parts to ship in. I'm reading there were some QC issues from the fans they've sourced from Hong Hua that made the original SeaSonic PRIME units unusually loud, but the PRIME Ultra has a different fan.

read the notes

and g3 has had 1 failed unit and one out of ripple atx out of 5 protection tests

Hey guys, between the rm550x and the tx650m from corsair, which one is a better pick for this build below? They are selling at the same price in my country. Many thanks.

Ryzen 5 3600

I have an EVGA G2 750W that is working perfectly in my 4790k/2080 build past 5 years. Thinking of upgrading to 3900x. The G2 is in Tier A, are the RM750x or HX750 that much better than G2 (both A+) to spend ?

Built: i7 4790k @ 4.6 (1.29v), MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio, Asus Z97-Pro(Wifi), EVGA Supernova G2 750W, 16gb @ 2400mhz OC, CM Hyper 212 EVO, Crucial MX100 256gb, WD Black 2TB+2TB, Logitech G105, G502, Z623,  Acer Predator XB271HU 1440p 165hz IPS G-Sync, NZXT H440(Red/Black)

greetings to the forum

in cybernetics the fan of txm seems to rotate at 1500rpm at light load and 1850rpm at full load but in a review in computerbase it spins from 800rpm at light load to 1600rpm at full load. So which one is correct?

could be both, if they were tested under different temperatures for example

Both. The fan RPM typically varies by temperature, so a higher ambient would mean the fan spins faster. I know Cybenetics tests in a hot box, and I believe Computerbase uses ambient. I think @Stefan Payne should know.

they shouldn't be

high opp

not a fully functional otp

single rail

and honestly not as good as a prime, even if that one won't go any higher because of the single rail

Check various online reviews though. These units are competing with Dark power and seasonic prime, etc. In tems of pricing as well. (while a tad cheaper. they still not in the mid range price. However the same can be said for the ROG thor in terms of pricing ) They are by no means "mid range". They also used to be in the tier S equivalent in the old list ? (before it came to the LTT forums). The 650w or less units could reach the A+ status.

750w is more than enough. No need for 850w.

exactly, it's not recommended to use them for modern systems, and it's highly recommended to get something from tier b or higher

Some Tier B units are even same price-ish as C-D units, for example "600W" rated C-D units which most of the time can't even put out over 400-450 on 12v are 35 euros, and I got 400W System Power 9 for a friend for 40 euros, great PSU for Ryzen 3 2300x and RX570 Nitro+(8+6 pin) he was getting, but most of the PSU makers of Tier B units got much better units so they don't market those cheap units even if they are decent, only complaint about System Power 9 is that it's a bequiet! PSU with crappy fan, not one of the bequiet ones, but for that price it's still great PSU just would be much nicer if they put 120mm bequiet fan even if it was older series or something

I'd change it, RX570 can pull 170-180W under Furmark, system power 9 400 and xilence performance a+ 430 are cheapest units i'd recommend, but def get something like pure power 11 400 if you got the budget
