Good GPU for i5 2400

What will be a good gpu to get for a cheap build? Hopefully something for 1080p 60fps.

For really old CPUs I usually think bidding on a GTX 1050 on eBay to get as low as possible on one is a good move.

 

Edit: even this OEM card would be a steal

I paired a EVGA GTX 750Ti SC (got used from a friend) with an i5-2500 machine I built for my brother on a $200 budget. He's not playing at 1080p, he's got a really old monitor (I think its 720p, or some variant of it). However, my friend use to play 1080p on the same GPU (albeit he had an i7-6700). My brother can play Overwatch on the highest settings (my friend used to do the same) at 60fps.

I'd say, get a 750Ti (or similar). Anything too much more powerful will be bottlenecked by the CPU.

but 290x, 390x, 780 ti, 970 and many more excist

IDK, that still might bottleneck pretty hard in modern games. I'd be more inclined to go RX 570. Remember i5 2400 is a sandy bridge quad core that sits around 3.1ghz. It is probably around 25% slower than 2200g at stock, and when you OC the 2200g you're probably getting to over 30% slower.

It will bottleneck, but a CPU upgrade to an i7, which can be found cheap on eBay would be perfect. Also if we are talking about $/FPS the 480/580 is the best option regardless. It's not like it is a crazy expensive card so it is a worthwhile investment. 

 

Why by a crappy overpriced 1050 Ti only to eventually make it the bottleneck.

I never said 1050ti, I said RX 570 which has roughly equal price:performance to the RX 580, just a bit slower to be more in line with the 2400.

I respectfully disagree. I have an rx 580 and i used to run it with an i5 3570 and when i moved to an i7 3770 there was a significant improvement in fortnite, pubg, bfv, etc...

Id go for an RX 570 id say.. they are reasonable to buy new and you could always use it for a while if you build a new system and then you don't have to buy the graphics card right away when you do..
