LG G3 leaked, will feature 1440p display

TopWargamer

http://bgr.com/2014/01/17/lg-g3-release-date-specs-leak-2k-display/

Leaked specs

-5.5" 1440x2560 display

-16MP rear camera

-LG Odin processor

The G3 is aimed to take down Samsung in their fight for Android market share. LG, I love you, but Samsung is too big for you...on the Android side anyways. I currently have a G2 and I love this phone. It really is great, so the G3 can only get better.

I do have 2 main concerns though:

1) Battery life (Hopefully they can cram in a super beefy battery like they did with the G2)

2) That LG Odin processor.

:/

I'm not liking those upgrades. Hopefully the leak for the processor is false. It just doesn't make any sense why LG would downgrade from the Snapdragon 800 to their Odin processor.

If it is using their Odin processor, maybe it'll be a beefed up version?

If LG can optimize their system better around that CPU than it will feel potentially faster. Hopefully they can do a better job than Samsung at optimizing the OS

as long as LG doesn't decide to include Touch wiz, it shouldn't be too difficult.

you really don't even need the best specs in a phone for a good experience, I have no idea why everyone is participating in this idiotic spec and resolution race.

Why the hell does a phone need a high resolution display. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I guess this is just d*ck waving at this point.

Touchwiz is a samsung only thing. LG's UI is a lot snappier.

Actually, the Odin was able to get those scores only with a max clock of 1 GHz, it's yet to show it's true potential.

Now it's not. I've used both TouchWiz on an S4 and the Optimus UI on G2. The Optimus UI was making my G2 actually look and feel like a slow phone, and it bogs down the system resources. After clearing the RAM, only 600-700NB would be free. I'm using a custom ROM now (CarbonROM) and it actually shows off the true power of this phone. Oh, and after clearing the RAM, it went up to 1200MB free.

So ya, the Optimus UI sucks. I haven't TouchWiz as often, but I like it better than the Optimus UI. And just throwing this out there, but HTC Sense is the best manufacturer ROM, IMO.

I was just speaking from experience. Tuchwiz has been improved but it's still kinda janky

Hmmmmm... Not a big fan of in house processors because it is much harder to estimate what the real life performance will be.

Also, it really pisses me off when people say 2K as if it is something new. A resolution is named by the thousands because of the amount of horizontal pixels rounded up to the nearest thousand, which means that 1920x1080 is 2K in the same way that 3840x2160 is 4k... Urgh.

Odd for the choice of Odin, if it's true. I know the Optimus G and G2 had marvelous specs as compared to their current generation, for LG to go for anything less than the most powerful...

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

LG has what I think is the best bezel reduction attempt with a display to date. Pretty excited to see what they've done with the G3 and it's bigger screen. Hopefully they managed to fit it into another very small body.

Because, really, we all love big things on small bodies.

For those that are worried about battery, the G2 had pretty awesome battery life and was one of the first smaller phones to pack a 3000mah battery. I'm sure their next one will be equally enticing.

I just hope they go to a more premium material, or at least a matte plastic so I don't have to use a case to cover the ugly.

I might actually just buy this just because it's got a processor carrying my name :) Kind of a oddity to see ;)

Anyway: If the processor truely was underclocked this might just very well be a monster :)

i want them to use more premium feeling materials.

if they HAVE to use plastic, it should be the soft touch stuff that motorola uses.

What makes you think it won't be SAMOLED or IPS? My guess is that it will be an IPS screen.

I am excited for the LG Odin. With a bit of luck it will be Cortex A53 and Cortex A57 based which would be really interesting. Hopefully their big.LITTLE implementation works properly as well.

The current panels and diplays they use are relatively expensive for them to produce, and I've read that increasing the pixel count would up the production cost significantly, so I've read and infered myself that they would more likely use a cheaper technology to keep their costs in check. Hence, touch capacitive LCD panels. But that's just what I think, I could be completely wrong.

i feel like all these phone companies are in bed together to have such similar specs every year or so.?

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.
