New monitor ultra-wide, now or wait?

Andreas Lilja

Just saw that the PG35VQ is going to be priced at over $2000 USD. ?

I am currently eyeing the LG 38GL950G, whose price is unknown.

200hz seems overkill to me, 1440p 144hz and HDR is what I'd like to have, but 100hz is definitely playable.

Should I wait for the new releases but get an older gen one (I'm assuming they're going to be discounted)?

I currently have a 27' ROG Swift 144hz so I can wait.

Assuming you have an accompanying RTX 2080 Ti to drive it, either one would be fine. It’s 3840x1600, as im sure you saw, so it’s much closer to 4k than normal UWQHD, and at 144Hz, overclockable to 175Hz, that would be one gorgeous gaming experience. If you’re looking for advice, I’d take the resolution over 25Hz (at least at that refresh rate, that is). But it’s up to you really, if you want resolution or refresh rate.

I have a 1080Ti,

Mostly interested because of the ultrawide nature. Not really that refresh rate focused, 60Hz is entirely playable. 100Hz is a soft spot.

Well you can get a 3440x1440 100Hz monitor for like $500. No reason to spend 2k if you don't want/need it anyways. But like I said it's your money.

So assuming I'm getting an old gen one, which is the best? Dell? Acer? LG?
