Planing to buy a new AMD CPU. Should I wait?

AMD annaunced now that ryzen Generation 3 releases mid 2019. I am planning to buy a 2nd Gen AMD CPU. Should I wait till mid 2019 because the CPU'S from 2nd gen gonna get cheaper or does it not matter?

if you don't have to build right now, just wait, the first 2 gens are gonna get blown out of the water.

If you are dying for a new build, would say get it now... but not then just wait until the reviews and such come out (a few months after release) as some weird bugs get squash via bios updates.

Depends what you have right now.

And how long you want to wait.

 

What could make sense is getting a mid-high end, very common AM4 Board with a 2600 (wich is like 150€ or so) and pray that there will be a BIOS Update for that Board that makes it Ryzen 3000 compatible

If it not urgent then wait until mid 2019. I am also excited to see how ryzen 3rd gen will performs also it might effect on pricing on 2nd gen.

If you need a computer before then (and who knows, the release date can always get pushed back further), just build one with the best available parts now and go with the cheapest cpu you can get like the 2200g/1200/2600. That way you have good upgrade path available. That's basically what I did and now I'm happy I did because I thought Ryzen 3 was closer than it is.
