Gtx 260 sli

chrispy747

I have a gtx 260 and a 3 way sli connector. I want to get two more 260s for an old sli setup.

My motherboard supports 3 way sli and i have a 1250 watt psu. I'm just wondering if it is worth the money.

I want a new gpu. I currently have a hd 5750. Im wondering if 3 gtx 260s will be better than my current card.

i can get two more 260s for $40-50USD.

Is this a good option or is there a better solution for the price?

Just buy a used GTX 750 Ti or something. Not worth spending money on such old hardware.

Definitely not worth the money, but the bragging rights would be fun. Not everyone has multiple GPUs these days.

Why? SLI has bad game support, plus I doubt even 3 260s will be able to play modern games.

Maybe something like a 780/970/4GB 960 would work if the price was right.

Here is a list of the cheapest three current AMD and NVIDIA GPUs (new, not used):

  • AMD Radeon RX 560 (290% faster)
    • 4GB GDDR5 - £115
    • 2GB GDDR5 - £104
  • AMD Radeon RX 550 (205% faster)
    • 2 GB GDDR5 - £98
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 (95% faster)
    • 2GB GDDR5 - £75
    • 2GB DDR4 - £74
  • AMD Radeon R7 240 (15% slower)
    • 2GB GDDR5 - £70
    • 2GB DDR3 - £65
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 (20% slower)
    • 2GB GDDR5 - £73
    • 2GB DDR3 - £65
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 (40% slower)
    • 2GB GDDR5 - £43
    • 2GB DDR3 - £35
    • 1GB GDDR5 - £29

The used market is where you should aim, in this case.

Just found a GTX 650 for $20 that looks legit in my area. Would that be worth it?

The GTX 650 is 60% faster than the GTX 260.

Don't bother with the 1 GB variant of the GTX 650.
