I only did because I had a Diablotek before this CX 600M. I had no idea what I was doing.

 

Although, did you mean GPU? I upgraded from an HD 7850 2GB to a GTX 770 in a space of 9 months.

In the summer 2013 I didn't have much knowledge on GPUs so I bought a XFX 6750 1GB to upgrade from my 6550D APU. It was a decent upgrade but I still wasn't happy with the performance I was getting so I decided to blow more money and upgrading to a XFX 7750 2GB a month later. (I thought it was better than a 7770 MHz edition 1GB simply because it was 2GB) What a good idea that was. It didn't give me very much more performance so I saved up even more and bought a second XFX 7750 to Crossfire. For some reason my motherboard did not want to Xfire at all even though both cards were working fine and my motherboard is "Crossfire ready out of the box"

 

Then I returned the second 7750, sold the first one, and bought myself an EVGA 650ti Boost SSC which I'm happy with. (And will be until I eventually get a better motherboard/CPU.)

Every two years or every tick, I rebuild my system. Computers performance hasn't leap for about 3 years in my eyes as I am still plagued by memory, voltage, and software issues.

my 670 TF fan is dying to the max so im going to buy a 770 tomorrow and RMA the 670. and if i get a new one back then Ill just sell the 670.

In the next few months I intend to upgrade though. 7850 was a temporary card.

I upgraded the Intel GMA x4500MHD in my main laptop to a Quadro NVS 160m (8400m equivalent.) and overclocked it.

About every two years or so, was on a pair of HD2900XT's, then sprung to a pair of HD3870 X2's, skipped the HD4xxx series and jumped on a pair of HD5870 which lasted me about two years. Skipped the HD6xxx series and jumped on a two way, followed by three way CFX with the HD7970. Those lasted me about 2 years before I'd recently jumped on a pair of R9 290X.

Personally I think the best choice if going for the current performance 'sweetspot' and then upgrading every 2 years.
