Gtx 980ti

Is the 980ti classified any better than say, a regular evga sc+ card? and if so, is the K[ngp]ng much better?

The PCB on the higher end ones tend to have better VRMs, capactors, etc.  Does that necessarily mean they can clock higher? Not all the time but usually yes.

Though, if just for regular gaming, the classified and kingpin will be overkill as those cards are geared for benchmarking with LN2 so a waste of features for regular gaming.

 

A nice SC can perform very well, even better if one is willing to custom BIOS mod it.

A GTX980Ti correctly OCed can out do that card.  My previous GTX980Ti referance (custom BIOS modded though) traded blows with high end AIB GTX1070s.

Lol, a 980 Ti is more powerful than a 1060 6GB, at gaming it is the same as a 1070, and for rendering work it is much more powerful than a 1070 thanks to how many Cuda Cores it has.

Yep, I had folks back when I had the GTX980Ti wondering why my card kept outdoing their 1070s in work loads.  Those extra cuda cores really help.  It actually did higher output in F@H than most GTX1070s.  Note though, this was custom BIOS voltage locked in card, it easily hit above 1500MHz on the core alone.

Yeah, 980Ti's were powerful cards, I only replaced mine when then 1080Ti was released!

Same.  Though, I waited for used 1080Tis as I got my GTX980Tis used.

Just wish I could custom BIOS mod the 1080Ti, but no one figured out how to get past those signed signatures on the BIOS.  Cross flashing BIOS can be done, but that gets into really risky area.

Because the 980 ti at stock is as powerful as the 1070 and an overclocked 980 ti (which is way easier than Pascal by the way) gets great frames for a low price.

Oh it is quite a bit faster. Like a lot faster actually. I had a top-end 980Ti and it was nearly as fast as a 1080  FE once overclocked heavily. Which is really a lot faster than a 1060.

I've had a GTX 970, R9 290X (which was actually the closest to the 1060 in terms of performance out of my cards), R9 Fury, GTX 980Ti, GTX 1080 and now a 1080Ti. My father has a 1070 so believe me when I say that I really know where the 6GB 1060 stacks up in terms of performance. It pretty much can't touch a 980Ti in any game.

Watch this and look at the overclocked scores if you don't want to take my word for it:

@planet_Shone back to the topic at hand, it's a good graphics card that's better than stock and the SC variant, and yes, kingpin is best version, especially because of great heat sink

Thanks everyone for helping out. In truth I forgot that I made this... I ended up just biting the bullet and buying a Strix Gtx 1070...
