Video Suggestion: Optimization of Specific Creative Software

I'm a photographer and was reading the other day to try and optimize my Adobe Lightroom experience. I was extremely surprised to find out that using an SSD does not improve the speed at which you can scroll through photos within Adobe Lightroom.

 

I still don't know what components to focus on when it comes to Lightroom specifically. Would love to see some different hardware setups with some self-made speed tests for that software specifically.

 

Since this was surprising, and Linus often focuses on content creators given that he is one. I was thinking a video focused on optimizing hardware for each specific type of creator. ie. Photographer, Videographer, Graphic Designer, 3D Modeler, etc. with discussions on the specific things to do in order to optimize speed for each software, such as transcoding videos to work on them and how to export at their original quality.

CPU single core performance is often a lot more important than core count, for most adobe applications.

 

Also CPU clock speed is completely irrelevant to anything performance related except comparing between the same CPU model at different clock speeds.

You probably meant single core performance, but that is not only related to clock speed.

MOAR RAM. Productivity apps need tons of RAM to really work great. SSD usually only helps loading plugins faster on app launch, but not while using it. CPU, unless workload demands huge amount of threads and benefits from them, look for highest single thread performance.

It's not just adobe, there are many other programs that also are coded for a single thread.

Not everything is just rendering in professional work.
