My pc keeps on shocking me

I die of eloctrocution everytime I touch metal part of the case. Its currently plugged in on a surge protector with 3prongs all plugged in the extension cord but the surge protector itself is only a 2prong old style flat head plugs on the wall. 

 

I even shocked myself while my phone is connected via usb at the back. Im kinda scared to use my phone now while charging at any outlet!

So since the surge protector is only a 2 prong its not actually grounded likely. Its probably just a power strip and not an actual surge protector.

It is most likely a grounding problem, fix it by getting an extension cord with 3 prongs and putting it into a wall plug with 3 prongs. If you shock a critical component there is a low risk that you will break it but there is some risk.

Think you need a proper surge protector.. Start from there..

Ditch all the dodgy stuff in between.

 

Given that a surge protector should have components shunting a surge to earth (Gas Arrestors/MOVs/TVS Diodes) there is something super dodgy there if it's only 2 pin.

 

Bin it.

 

Check your extension cord is wired correctly also.

 

Are these name brand items or super dodgy no name brand ?

Without safety ground PSU's EMI/RFI filtering capacitors form voltage divider causing case to "float" half way between live and neutral.

That current isn't dangerous to human, but it can cause problem with sensitive devices.

Just plug your PC directly to the wall until you get a surge protector that actually is grounded.
