Only me that don't use VLC?

mpv > mpc-hc > VLC

But I have to say, this is pretty impressive. Making Chromecast work was probably a quite difficult job.

i haven't used VLC since i changed to windows 10, simply no need for it anymore with the installed player that came with it.

The player in Windows 10 still doesn't play too kindly with .mkv files where multiple languages and subtitles are present. In addition, it flat out won't play any HEVC video without hardware decode support it seems. Software playback (via the CPU) is the only means of playing back such files on my laptop.

So Windows default player(s) does not work for my use case.

Once VLC went Weatherwax, and for some reason broke DXVA for some of my devices, I too went MPC-HC for awhile. While DXVA still doesn't work properly, the new Direct3D 11 decode setting works flawless. Software decode speed of HEVC also seems to be about on par with MPC-HC now as well, a particularly relevant bit for myself as one of my heavily used devices uses a Bay Trail chip, where the cpu just barely manages 1080P HEVC playback.

Hardware HEVC decode also finally works properly on my desktop, though I might stick to Kodi here for the Xbox controller compatibility.

I'm definitely pleased to have VLC as a viable option again though.

Am I the only one who hasn't received the update?

Click on Help and select Check for Updates. If that doesn't work, download from VLC again from the official website and just install replace your installation.

It's probable you will need to download the new version manually. It is a fairly major update, so the automatic update function may not work between major releases. Your settings will remain the same unless you choose to reset them during the install.
