Upgrading CPU cooler

Hi folks !

 

I want to upgrade my Intel stock cooler to a Alpfenföhn or similar, because frankly its just freakin' loud. My question is can I remove the stock cooler and upgrade to another one without having to disassemble my whole PC ? I really wouldn't want to do that. My case has a windows on the backside of the mobo where I think I could install the backplate of the new cooler.

Anything that's aftermarket will work better than the stock one.

 

You dont have to take away anything to replace the cooler, though having the mobo (hence the case) lying parallel to the working surface (table, floor, whatever) makes it much easier.

Hyper 212 evo. super cheap and one of the best around as well as most popular. You can find them on sale for around 15-20$ or normal prices vary between 20-30$.

Aftermarket coolers are way better then the stock intel heatsink, removing it isnt a hassle as you only have to rotate the pin tabs 90 degrees until the cooler pops off. Depending upon what aftermarket CPU cooler you choose, you will need to mount a backplate on the back of the motherboard which requires the motherboard to be removed, or since you have a side panel window, just take that off and install the backplate like that.

Depends on you case most. If case has cutout for cooler, then you can change it without taking mobo of.

Located in Germany. Budget for cooler = anything between 20 and 50 €
