Hey guys,

Currently I have:

4690k

16gb

980Ti

H60i

 

I would like to update my system with an 8700k.

What MoBo, ram, and cooler should I get?

 

I already have PSU, HD and SSD taken care of.

Do you need the extra cores for things other than gaming? If so,I wouldnt bother upgrading

Why specifically are you looking to upgrade? What case do you have?

wait it out. the prices may go down in the upcoming months. let the platform mature.

I, myself is on the edge of cancelling my order. I don't really wanna spend £360 on a processor when it may reduce in price.

If you compare the Intels new processor the i7-8700k to Ryzen's 1800 your getting a better processor for cheaper. (check userbenchmarks)

You can't find the 1800 because it doesn't exist. And you successfully compared AMD's most overpriced CPU with a reasonably priced Intel CPU in terms of value. As well as ignoring the platform cost.

Yeah I forgot that they didn't create an 1800 just a 1800x. However since the 1800x is AMDs top streamlined CPU I feel its a fair comparison.

I'll be ordering the CPU sooner rather than later. That's not going to change. But I guess I'll have to wait to see what z370 board to get

Yes. I do a fair bit of video editing from racing and gopro footage. My current 4c4t just completely chugs along.

I need more cores for video editing and I don't think a 4690k to a 8600k is substantial enough change. I'll be essentially 3x my cpu

ehhh idk, i still think the 1600 is the sweet spot if you do gaming and light productivity, video editing/streaming. idk, ill probably get a ryzen 1600 now and then buy the 8700k later on for my main system and have the 1600 as a secondary system. or i could sell it.

no budget. none of that 8 core shit nonsense which I won't be needing, my aim is to game comfortably at 1440p with a 1080Ti. video/photo editing, MAYBE streaming.
