Should I uninstall McAfee?

I have 8 GB Ram and my background apps (mostly McAfee) eat half the ram more than 50 %, which is making the games I play crash giving me "Insufficient RAM error" I play at 1080p veryhigh - ultra. Do I NEED an antivirus? my ISP gave free McAfee so I installed it, does the windows antivirus work?

windows built in is better than the bundled mcafee.. get rid of it, and clean out any other bloatware at the same time..
pcdecrapifier and ccleaner helps alot here

As someone who always uninstalled it from any new computer in the past. Yes. Feel free to get rid of it.

YES!!!! Uninstall McAfee ASAP. Hands down worst, slowest, most bloated, most annoying AV I've ever used. Plus, it like to change your default search engine to Yahoo every time you restart the browser. Use something like Sophos home ( I use it and never notice it, and we use the enterprise version at work and it's pretty slick, and also goes unnoticed).

Once had to do a clean install to get mcafee off a friends system, no amount of hackery could clear it out, that stupid garbage is almost as bad as norton

There's a tool to uninstall it, google "Mcafee uninstall utility" or something like that. Then you have to download it, run it, pass a Captcha, and then it'll remove McAfee.

If you don't want to completely get rid of it, what you can try doing is going into the task manager, find mcafee, and click end process, and then I believe once you start your PC up the next time, it will still be there. Just whenever you're going to be gaming, end the process, or you could just completely get rid of it if you want as well.

That looks normal. Can you post pic of graph page? With just those it should be at 30% at most. Or 3.5Gb if I remember my own light use correctly. With BF4 running it was at 80% at most.

didn't work, nothing worked, performed exorcisms and the whole nine. Finally resorted to force deleting the whole C drive and wouldn't you know it, one thing was left, mcafee.

I used everything, tools, safe mode, black magic, I even sacrificed my first born to satan. the only thing that seemed capable of killing it was a clean install

Not the best idea, since he's the one who made McAfee. Probs just made it worse.

But yeah, a lot good these commercial AVs are when they are just as bloated as whatever can infected you.

Yup. Avast is okay, but Sophos is the best I've ever used, since it's super light and does everything itself.

Windows Defender here. As long as you're not doing something sketch like going to some shady porn site without an econdom on with an old version of IE, you're fine.
