Question about Fan Splitter

Tech Wizard

Hello,

Long story short, I have a CM 212 EVO with a spare bracket+fan, so I attached 2nd fan to heatsink for push/pull. It worked fine, dropped 3-4 celsius, but no matter how many different attempts I tried to match the RPM of the two fans, I could not get it to work. Everything from putting the 2nd fan (pull) into CPU_OPT or Case Fan header on motherboard, and tuning RPM in BIOS, I could not get them to be simillar. Push was always 200RPM higher than pull, no matter what profiles/tuning.

Here is my question. If I buy a 4-Pin Y-Cable / Fan Splitter for two 4-pin PMW fans, would they spin at same RPM then? I'm lthinking of Noctua's NA-SYC1 model - http://noctua.at/en/na-syc1

Short answer is yes. The PWM signal will feed into both assuming they're PWM fans.

They are both original Hyper 212 EVO fans, which are PWM. (Have so many 212 EVOs up in this place!!) xD

As long as you use the same fans then they will recive the same signal and spin at the same RPM.

I personally use this one from rosewill and it works great.

They are exact same fans, so I'm going to press purchase!

I live in Norway, and literally noone is selling PWM splitters, only 3 headers + Molex. YUCK!
Only PWM splitter I found was the Noctua one linked in the main post, for $15 xD

Edit: Found a model from akasa for $8, named AK-CBFA04-15.

Short answer is actually no. Since there are manufacturing things to consider, even if they were to use same header, you wouldn't be getting indentical rpm. You might get closer than 200rpm, but they aren't going to be identical.

Even if it's the same fans?

There's always some variance. You probably get within like 20rpm. I have around 100rpm with 3pins.
