Life time of CPU

So I've bought a used 4790k off of eBay and had it for a week or so now and everything runs fine on it. But for some reason I've been having anxiety that the CPU won't last long and I sometimes think I'll be on my PC a month from now and it will just die. The owner before me did say that he overclocked the chip. Do CPUs last longer than I think they do? Or am I worrying about nothing?

Yeah, CPU's last ages. For example mine is currently over 6 years old and running fine. I am sure there are people running Pentium 4's still too.

CPUs are really hard to break. I have a Pentium D that I put in my pocket, backpack, brought to school, lost, and found yesterday. It still works

I don't think I've ever seen a CPU fail. I still have an Amiga 500 and my brother has a Commodore 64, Commodore 16 and a VIC-20 in perfect working order and all of them are 30+ years old.

Good Good I'd bash my head into the wall if I had to use a 10 year old CPU especially if it had a HDD in it!

I still have CPUs from 2006 and earlier running fine. CPUs take forever to wear out, unless the guy was pushing absurd voltages you have nothing to worry about. Most common CPU problems I'd be concerned about when buying second hand is broken pins and the chip being burned... but if it booted up fine and it's been running for a week, should be all good

Generally speaking, if temperatures and voltages are kept at safe levels at stock a couple should last 10 years of use (24/7 operation). If you do decent overclocking while keeping voltages safe (under 1.35V for your chip) it should last around 8 years or so. To give you an idea, my friends 3770k has been running at 4.0GHz for 4 years and we expect another 3 out of it. We just overhauled her PC actually.
