Opinions on this home theater package.

X1XNobleX1X
Go to solution Solved by ShearMe,

Managed to buy a really nice set of speakers today CM9 by B&W absolutely amazing!

I'v set them up, but the problem seems to be with the Edifier

. It not working with the pre-out on the amp.

Am I suppose to connect it to the aux in on the very top or the Audio in where it says SW in red?\

I have a sub woofer cable, do I need a cable like this instead?

Thanks!

I listen to a wide range of music from the top 40. This will also be used for gaming which is it's main purpose.

oh well. i build my audiosystems like my pc, part by part ..

But from experience for surround gaming you really want a strong subwoofer for those sweet explotions.

But for a 2k budget iguess its not all that bad. i havent had the chance to hear yamahaa other than the cheapstuff

It says this receiver is 7.2 which means two sub woofers right?

Just looking at the back it doesn't seem I can hook up another subwoofer.

You see the subwoofer PRE OUT. thats where you hook up the subwoofer. never use audiochannels for subwoofer it will sound like shit and most likely ruin the subwoofer. ( Speaking of experience i did this my first time xD )

When buying speakers it is always a good idea to get to a shop like the good guys or JB and actually listen to the stuff, esp. HTIAB.

If you want to save some cash go have a listen to these:

Yep, each sub woofer should come with it's own power supply and level knob on the back. As said before, we probably can't give you much of an opinion, but Yamaha is a reputable brand and for 2k, it can't really suck.

Yes. you can hook up 10 if you want to. with an splitter. like this

5lOW5.jpg'

What you have is an active subwoofer I.E it does not need the AMP to power it, only feed it signals

these packages usualy never come with cables its such a pain.

I can list up what cables i use for my setup. kinda spendy tho but signalcables are pretty important.

5lPxS.png

Any gold plated Y adapter should be fine. if youneed to hook up more than two subwoofers ( Witch the reciever you have can )

Subwoofer cables

5lPBg.png

and for the speakers / im guessing the ports arent huge, so you should go with

5lPDt.png

.

These are what are sold in norway. but im pretty sure these companies are international.

if not dont skimp out of cheap cables. spend abit of love on them, it will make the sound so much warmer and more quality.

PM me if you have any questions about hooking it up or anyting related to audio :)

don't bother with expensive cables, just find something cheap that's the right guage for your system.

Lel, that'd be dumb. The main benefit of dual subs is to run them in stereo, which you wouldn't achieve with a mere splitter. Any more than two is unnecessary.

Remember OP, optimising your room is more important than the price of your speakers past a certain point.

this can be discussed for days if not more. cables have alot to say. resistance oxygen and so on thats within the cables. im not saying that these speakers need 200$ cables. im just sayin that it does matter...

Well like you said, you could add ten on each side, but for a home theater why would you need to? Wouldn't it be best to get two good subs than 4 lesser subs?

i was just pointing out that you could add more than one ( or two ) with an splitter. im not telling him to buy 10 subs lol. and yes, indeed, two subs are the optimal, if you have a bigger room, ( Airpreasure and so on can ruin the audio quality ) unless you have a huge room that is. then id recomend 4 subs. two in front and two in the back with reversed phasing ( 180 )

Would you recommend having a sub in the back as well with the surround speakers? Or two in front.

Also, I'm able to get the QED Subwoofer cable.

Not sure where to get the Van Den Hul Cable from or the Y splitter.
