Managed to buy a really nice set of speakers today CM9 by B&W absolutely amazing!

I'v set them up, but the problem seems to be with the Edifier

. It not working with the pre-out on the amp.

Am I suppose to connect it to the aux in on the very top or the Audio in where it says SW in red?\

I have a sub woofer cable, do I need a cable like this instead?

Thanks!

Please don't tell me you're using that cheap subwoofer with those nice floorstanding speakers....

Optical/coaxial is limited to 5.1.  If you want to go to 6.1 or higher you'll have to go HDMI. So you may as well start there seeing as any receiver you get will have it.

As the Optical is limited because of the bandwidth, I'v decided  instead of using Optical I'll use HDMI, which should work. This will give me no compression.

My only question is as I have three screens using both DVI's on one card and 1 DVI on the other, will the HDMI still work just for sound if plugged into the AV receiver?

There should be a setting for audio only somewhere in the video card drivers. We can help you with that later f you run into problems, however.

None. Unless you have 7 outputs it wont matter. Ive never used optical fiber so i cant talk pf experience. I always use eighter red and white or a normal aux .

About to purchase my cables, what do you think about this cable?

All I think is, "Oooooo it's flat."

Price is a bit steep for only 5 meters. You can get 100ft (30 meters) for ten bucks in 'Murica.

Edit: maybe that's just what cable costs down under.... found twice as much for nearly the same price, however: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10-metre-OLEX-HIGH-QUALITY-SPEAKER-WIRE-/400352099876?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d36d83e24&_uhb=1

Go to bunnings and get the 240v 7.5amp figure 8 flex Last I checked it was something like 60c a metre. You can buy by the roll.  good for 1000watts easy.

Back to the drawing board.

I was thinking that instead of getting a package, I would get two really good front speakers, amp and sub woofer, and use my existing center, and surround speaker which are still quite good. What are your guys opinions on a really good set of front speakers, sub and amp.

Current center and back speakers are:

Jensen SPX-4 and SPX-13, Only well know in AUSTRALIA

Thanks!

Well If you're going to mix-n-match, check eBay for some full sized speakers. then you wont even need a subwoofer.

Is it bad that my setup (minus the receiver) was either free or payment for some sort of odd job? It actually turned out decent enough too.

Lol, ok.

Yeah, it should work with the SW channel if you're outputting from a sub pre-out on the receiver.

Alright, the time has come to setup the AV Receiver.

What do I need to do?

I have plugged the HDMI into the GPU and AV Receiver.

Have a triple monitor setup won't effect the audio working will it?

I'm using 2 DVI's from GPU and 1 DVI from GPU 2

You should just have to set HDMI to the default audio device, and maybe disable the display in Window's Display settings.

It should look something like this

2013-12-1321_24_32-Sound.png

just set your equivalent of the PB278 as default and max the volume to 100%. You may also want to right click it and set the speaker layout to whatever you have 2.0, 5.1, or 7.1.
