Bottleneck?

Would my fx6300 be bottlenecking my gtx950 or can I upgrade it soon?  Would it be better to upgrade my CPU first?

no it really wont' bottleneck it.

It's fine for now, but if you'll ever upgrade the GPU to any thing better than the GTX 950 then you might really need to consider a new CPU along.

Get a Ryzen 5 1400. It is the best bang for the buck CPU for under $200!

Maybe wait for Ryzen 3. Those CPUs will cost less than $130 AFAIK.

That's not really how CPU bottlenecks work. There are some games (usually management sims) where your CPU will unavoidably be the bottleneck. There are other games (usually linear single-player graphics showpiece games) that care very little about your CPU. Your graphics settings/render resolution and the framerate you want to hit are all factors as well in whether or not your CPU may hold you back.

 

If you just want a quick and easy answer, don't worry about it. A GTX 950 is not a very high-performance GPU. I'm not clear on exactly which component you're trying to upgrade, but I don't think you can buy anything within $200 that I'd personally worry about.

 

I would recommend getting an RX 470 or RX 480, as I think you'll get way more gaming performance for your money than you would with a CPU upgrade. I don't think you can do anything meaningful with your CPU with this budget, and it wouldn't help you as often anyway.

upgrade your cpu first :) 
latest cpus are overkill to ancient gpus but it would still work tho while the old cpus are gonna be bottleneck to latest gpus
