Songs for testing car subs

TubsAlwaysWins
Go to solution Solved by NinJake,

If you don't mind electronic music, check out the mixes by "Going Quantum" on youtube.

If you're more into hip hop, check out "Syvatoy Yisus, Forgive Me" by Doc. Gold Grill and o k h o (Suuuuper loud in my car, with 1 12" with ported box @300w RMS)  or "Hedges" by o k h o.

I know a lot of current day "rap" is bass heavy, so you can check that out if you're into that.

What subs do you have btw? @TubsAlwaysWins

Any songs you recommend for tuning my cars subs? (2x12")

Thanks

Maybe a car audio tech would know.

So LinusTechTips is not an appropriate place to discuss audio tech?

Plenty of guys into car audio around here. Doesn't mean you can't also check out other forums.

IDK what subs I have. They are shit ones that came out of a home theater setup my friend gave me. In the next 3 months(ish) they are getting replaced by some JBL subs my work is getting rid of because the rest of the speaker is blown

I mean for free subs they sound not to bad

I like using Run-DMC music for seeing how clear bass is. Some other times I use MC Hammer, Missy Elliot, Will Smith (yes that Will Smith).

i find that songs that you enjoy listening to are the best for calibrating speaker volumes, because you already know how you want the song to sound, and you can adjust it so it fits that.

There's quite a few really good songs to do this with, you might also check out this thread over at SMD. Ultimately though, you're also going to want to listen to songs that you know well. If you're not investing in special tools, your ear will be the best tool that you can use, and your ear can only help you if you know how something is supposed to sound.

I would like to make a case for a much hated artist though. Most of his earlier stuff was extremely good:
