Getting lower fps than others who have the same specs

Omie

So with my new system built: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dNhpVY

I noticed that this person is getting higher fps than me in Battlefront:

He never drops below 100 fps while I'm constantly dropping to like 93 fps. I have a higher clocked CPU (7700k at 4.5GHz) and a higher clocked GPU at 2025Mhz. I'm using the exact same settings as him in the video and also played the same game mode in the same map. I think something may be wrong with my system because its like a 20 fps difference as he constantly maintains 120 fps+ while I maintain around 100-110fps, with frequent drops to the 90's.

What could be the problem?

Maybe it might be the thermal that's dropping your frames or that his RAM might be better . Also not all GPU are the same even though they are the same model and everything same as RAM sticks .

Variance like this is normal since no two matches can be exactly alike. Assuming this is MP.

What do you mean by thermal? And my RAM is still at 2133 while his is at 3000, but I don't think it can constitute a 20fps difference right?

I thought that variance like 3-5fps would be normal, but I feel like this variance is way too much. I mean I'm getting like drops to the mid 90's frequently while he never drops below 100.

It very well could just be a difference in the manufacturing process or something. You never know with that. The main difference between your systems are he's using EVGA you're using an Asus card. Thermals could also play a big difference. Your card could somehow be getting hotter than his so yours starts thermal throttling more

RAM speed can give quite a few frames in games. Listening to "RAM speed doesn't matter" is incorrect as the CPU can push more data effectively through a single clock cycle versus a lower bandwidth.

Hmm ok. I'm just worried if there may be something wrong with my system, that's all.

I did take a Firestrike test to make sure. Does this seem like a reasonable score considering my specs and that everything is at stock?

Hmm I never thought of it like that. I guess there are more factors than just the specs of the system then.

I have Corsair utility engine and Corsair Link active, but idk if they really cause any fps issues.

I doubt it. Do you have anti-virus or a firewall?

Then, I would chalk it up to the system itself. You're still getting a good frame-rate.

Yeah, it's just I want to make sure I'm actually getting the amount of frames I'm supposed to considering my specs. I'm not sure if there is a way to check that though.

Play some other games. See if you're able to get similar results on other games. One game being weird could be anomalous.

Yeah, it's just gonna be hard to find another game to test my fps with someone who has a very similar build and also shows their full settings.

This.

OC does not automatically mean better performance,  and in most cases is unnecessary or even counter productive.
