Far Cry 1 is almost unplayable.

I have it on Steam, first level, ok i think i need to kill the guard so i did, instant wallhack mode activated on all enemies, they are shooting me through walls, WTF????????????

Ok so i managed to deal with that just about.

Get in jeep, shoot enemy, according to the game i shot the car and not the enemy through the vehiciiles gaps, so i die from the explosion.

 

Uninstalls Far Cry 1.

Is it better?

I liked FC1 until you get shooting and well you die so fast which is fine, but the damn enemies are even hitting me no problem through solid walls, i was inside their building looking for ammo and health and was taking damage from 3 enemies through the wall, could see teh tracers coming in like the walls don't exist.

thats weird, that definately doesnt sound right

A classic favorite of mine ruined by a final game breaking patch.

Farcry was groundbreaking on release from a tech perspective and was simply a really fun game to play. Sadly the 1.4 patch destroyed stealth play giving enemies the ability to see through walls and in many cases shoot you through them. Not to mention certain areas you simply get stuck on due to a heap of bugs that never used to exist.

I finished this game a few times after it's initial release and loved it, it's such a shame it's no longer worth playing due to being sabotage by it's own developer since then. If you can manage to get the game without the 1.4 patch I still suggest it, otherwise you're simply wasting your money.

Way to ruin the legacy of a once great game.

i recall having a community patch / unofficial patch that solved the wall hacking issue, i just cant find it atm

I managed to fix it, downloaded two patches.

64 bit AMD patch, and the extra 64 bit content, the 64 bit version is running v1.32 which has the normal AI that the game ships with and the game is flawless, far more enjoyable now

I guess I didn't encounter that bug when I played FC1 through Steam because I installed the 64-bit patch right away.

 

Far Cry 1 is awesome, though. My fav Far Cry, and one of my very favourite FPS games. I spent so much time in the jungle on the early levels, not doing anything particular other than just chilling.

FC1 was awesome. You should try it without this patch. All FC's after that have nothing to do with it. FC2 was Fun though.
