I want to know if there is anything that could be made better without spending much more money, or if there were any incompatibility issues.

@strangerdanger If this build is purely for gaming, get an i5 and upgrade your GPU to a 980 or 980Ti.

Also you dont have a power supply  :P

Change the GPU to an R9 390, Sapphire coolers are the best. You have no PSU. If you're just gaming, you can tone down the CPU. Also, with a build like that, spend a bit more and get 16GB RAM.

I used to be quite active here.

Honestly, if it colour scheme doesnt matter so much i would change 970 brand/model, or get a 390. black and white still looks cool imo. And for pure value i wouldn't get a k series cpu and cooler.

EDIT: then u can spend less on mobo, cpu, cooler for better gpu such as 980 and more ram.

I'd go with the first build. A Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo can cool your 4790K if overclocked. If you are not planing on overclocking, it's still nice to get the 4790K because it already runs at a 4.0GHz and turbo boosts to 4.4Ghz! The GTX 970 is a good card for 1080p gaming!

I'd switch to a 390 or 390x, more bang for the buck.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
