Need a fully-modular PSU

Speedbird

Hello LTT community!

I'm looking for a power supply for my next build. It needs to be fully modular, 80+ Gold, 650-750W (enough for dual 970s) and not from EVGA (they're not available here). So far I've only found the Corsair RM series, which you don't seem to like. Thanks.

Thanks, I'll look into them. Corsair AX is kinda expensive though...

Well, I shop at http://arvutitark.ee/ . The site is in Estonian, but I think you can figure it out with Google Translate. Budget is 160 euros.

Yeah I know, but sometimes you can only find a small variety :(

The RM series are not bad, they are just not up to the competition, specially on that pricepoint. But they are perfectly safe and efficient as any other good quality 80+ Gold.

Any reason why you'd need a gold rated psu?

Thanks. Would like 80+ Gold because I heard it's a good efficieny rating and anything higher isn't worth the extra cash. I've heard that SeaSonic PSUs have trouble screwing into cases....

There is nothing wrong with the RM series, its just that in most countries the EVGA SuperNOVA G2 PSUs are much better and for the same price.

Buy an RM750 with confidence if that is what is available where you live.

Value in general goes down as you go up the chain of more efficient psus due to diminishing returns and marketing. I haven't seen anyone else have the issue with screwing in seasonic psus--or psus in general.

Heard of Carey Holzman? He stopped using SeaSonic PSUs because the screw holes didn't line up correctly. And I've had problems myself, when I changed the PSU on some old case to an S12II one hole wouldn't line up.

Yeah, I watch his videos. I haven't had any issues with psu holes lining up. You can just rma it if that is the issue.
