I'd rather get a Func HS-260 and then two 512GB 840 Pros.

They are real and apparently there have been many iterations of them as well.

My biggest issue with head phones of any price is comfort. I have Beyerdynamic Custom One PRO, but can only wear for 30-40 minutes because they pinch my glasses against my temples. Other comfort issue is the heat build up = closed over the ear cups can get hot n sweaty.

Thus I would be less willing to take a chance on $1k headphones. Can you try them out for a day be fore committing a USA Cleveland (guy on the $1k bill)?

Velour pads are better for that and I found the DT series of Beyerdynamic to be more comfortable than the COP.

LCD-2 because I already own them :)

Tried HE-500 before hand, they don't quite have the same effect as my LCD-2's.

I've heard the HE-560 is kind of a halfway point between the HE-6 and HE-500, so can't rule that out yet, as I see some people enjoy the HE-6 more than LCD-2, but some prefer the LCD-2 over the he-6.

Out of the options presented, I'd +1 on LCD 2. Problem with these is, they need a good amp to bring out the most out of them. Not just any big juice amp, but a good one. I found that planars are quite sensitive to the choice of the amp. Not that it won't sound without a good amp (but LCDs still need an amp, I think), but just not optimal.

On the other hand, the Lambda is electrostatic (supposedly better than planars, although never tried one myself). I think the lambda comes with its own amp, so you won't have to worry about the amp for a while...

I got the HD800s but I'm interested in obtaining LCD2 or LCD X or LCD3 next. I heard for good bass the LCDs are the kings of the hill.

Have you tried any yet? I love my 2's, would be interested in seeing what you think of em vs 800's.

I want to try them with different amps though, at times I feel the o2 could do a better job powering them, or at least a different amp could do a better job.

Tried both (LCD 2 and HD800). It's not about which is better, I think, more of a difference and preference. LCD 2 is of course got that very familiar intimate warmness. The HD800 got somewhat out of this world clarity with the high frequencies. And talk about the wideness....man, those things are wide.....

If only (IF) I have both of them, I can see myself alternating the use, this one for these musics, and that one for those musics, but probably would spend more time on the LCD :)

Nope. I am trying to get to the Headfi meet in SF next Saturday but I'm having car issues.

I'm not super duper serious on getting the LCDs right now, but I just think it'd be cool to have in the future. If I were I'd have already tried them.

For sure the HD800s and LCDs are very, very different headphones.

Yes, I was thinking of getting HD800s and then maybe LCD X and alternate every other day or some other weirdness just because I can.  :)

No....but love is love.....love for money, that is....

Nah, just messing around. But yeah, those 800 are superb. First comments that came out of my mouth when auditioning for those are, 'how the hell did they managed to produce something like this....??'

I'm wondering how the 700 would sound though. It got similar design, but never seen one in person, and never read reviews about them....
