The Situation With Multiple Orgs - And Other Things.

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Okay, so. With the drop of multiple orgs I feel it's time I brief you all on how (roughly) we plan to handle multiple orgs.

First of all, I'd like to say that you're all free to create your own affiliate orgs and so on.

So, multiple orgs just fell on all of us, and we've gained quite a few new members/affiliates because of it. This is a great thing! However, I've seen a few calls from members asking that the org be made exclusive, and at the moment, our position is that we are open for everyone to join, should they so wish.

Here's why:

We are an open and friendly community of gamers who all share a common interest; PC gaming. With that comes SC and it's many qualms and bugs, the promise of an immersive universe and the org system. We have been lucky enough to gather enough of a following to be able to hold the banner high for LTT and say that we are a good org to be affiliated with and a part of. I would like to keep it this way.

The situation with affiliates

Since we now have to contend with affiliates of our org, I would like you all to welcome them all like they are full members. However, they will have restrictions. Such as:

  1. Affiliates will pay a reduced tax rate (Affiliate/Friendship tax) of an undecided amount.
  2. Affiliates must abide to the rules and structure of the org at all times while working with the org.
  3. Affiliates will not receive any benefits from the org, unless a treaty is signed between both org bodies that permits this.
  4. Affiliates can call upon the help of the org, however full members will take priority.
  5. Affiliates can hold no position of power within the org whatsoever.
  6. All affiliates, unless otherwise stated by High Council will automatically and forever assume the lowest rank within the org.

These rules have been put in place to minimise the threat of espionage and possible information stealing.

The situation with members

As a full member of the org, you will have priority over affiliates and we will always ensure that this is the case.

  1. Memebrs can expect to pay a small % of Income in tax to the org.
  2. Members must abide by the rules and structure of the org at all times.
  3. Members will receive full benefits from the org, unless otherwise stated
  4. Members can call upon the assistance of any member of the org at any time.
  5. Members are allowed to run for council and other leading positions.
  6. All members, unless otherwise stated by Council are to be treated fairly at all times.

These rules have been put in place to further ensure the friendliness of the org.

The situation with ambassadors

As an ambassador to or from the org, you will report directly to Council or to an official diplomatic section of the org.

  1. Ambassadors will be hand picked by a select committee of members
  2. Should communications break down and war to break out the ambassador of the opposing org will be allowed to return to their org without interference from any member,

Beyond these specialised rules, everyone is still expected to follow the rules of the org at all times. Should any breaking of any of these rules occur and if it can be proven, you will be held accountable for 100% of the damage you have caused and will repay it, with force or no.

In short, we're keeping multiple orgs open, but affiliates have restrictions on them at all times.

Prosperitas per diversitas.

I really hope this game is good cause there is a lot of effort being spent on the organisation of groups.

I actually agree, at the moment this seems the best compromise between the security of the organization and being open to new members of other organizations at the same time.

I recently made a org and set LTT to an affiliate, would it be possible for me to be considered as a full time member as the new org is merely to "Organize" stuff. (Get it!! It's an ORGANIZATION! Huh? Yeah, that was terrible.)

If they roll out sub-orgs then I would love to make it one. I'm half considering getting rid of it anyway and just organizing everything with a mailing list or something like that. For now all members are in the UOLTT.

We have already spoken at-length about how the sub orgs will work within this org. As it stands now, you are an affiliate and you will be treated as so.

Thinking is hard... I am quite involved and upto date and still have to read most of this type of thing twice.

A way to still be a member of the LTT and have your own sub org (fully affiliated of course) would be to have an alternate account separate of your main one, your main account can then become a member of that org as an affiliate, this would be messy and a bit of a hack way of doing it. I have not tested this but the theory I think is sound. When I get a chance I might give it a go.

@ixi_your_face Jobo's point is along the lines of what I wanted to ask... what is the protocol for LTT members being affiliated to another group? I would assume fine but just checking.

So is there no way for me to be considered a full member without setting it as my main org? If so, I will disband my org.

If you wish to have your own sub org, you can do so within the org itself.

If you wanna go and join other orgs as an affiliate, go ahead, i'm not gonna stop you :)

UOLTT must be your main org to be considered a member.

That is why RSI need to update and change their current organization system to something better, having the following:

- sub-org ( smaller org withing big one, simple said )

- affiliate ( currently i see this quite unnecessary )

- other

Greetings Citizens,

New to the lot, so I won't waste time. I am here on duty collecting contacts to piece together a network to contract through for my own organization. I find peace of mind knowing that the LTT has open arms for new mercenaries and freelancers looking for work. I will definitely refer a few friends here once their own contracts dry up. So with that being said I'm happy to be a part of one of the largest organizations in Star Citizen. Is there anyone who can direct me to affiliate rankings? As I understand it there is no way the community will accept me or my boys as full members, but I hope that doesn't mean we can't count on a wing off LTTs passing through a conflict area I'm involved in. So long as everyone gets paid, aye? See you in the verse.

As it stands I believe there aren't affiliate rankings (might be a sort of idea there possibly ranking to a certain level and after that it is member but might be more of a mission to manage) but for now it is "All affiliates, unless otherwise stated by High Council will automatically and forever assume the lowest rank within the org."

As for calling for help "Affiliates can call upon the help of the org, however full members will take priority."

For my part if I am called to help an affiliate I will be in there guns blazing, if only so I can pick up the lovely scrap afterward :D

In terms of tax.

If the mechanics of taxation allow it; would LTT be willing to tax only the leader of an affiliated organization?

This way, if said affiliate choses to function solely on donations; the leader can still pay the tax % to LTT by fronting the in game cash themselves; thereby saving face with the taxing methods the group was originally forged under.

i.e.: Synergy has never forced its members to pay money: in game or otherwise; but I still want this alliance/affiliation to exist between Synergy and LTT. Myself, as the leader, am willing to front any costs; but I don't want to have to tell each of my members that, in order for Synergy to stay affiliated to LTT, they as individuals also have to put forward a % of their earnings.

I hope I've explained myself adequately.

if you really want to be part of ltt, do so, join with your buddies and later on ( when rsi make it avaliable ), re-create your org within the ltt

( keep in mind that this is my 2 cents, not official statement from ltt diplomats )

I have a feeling that taxation will be limited to how RSI sets it up.  They would need to make an option for orgs with affiliates to tax individual affiliate members or the affiliate as a whole.  And if there is such an option said decision will be left to the high council.

Edit: actually thinking about how the affiliation works it is on an individual basis as is and not on a whole org basis.  So there will probably not be an option to tax affiliate orgs as a whole until something like alliances comes along.  Basically if your fellow Org mates do not wish to be taxed then they should not set UOLTT as an affiliate.

What would the tax be as far as options to pay? Full membership grants no tax?

Read the original post for tax breakdowns.  there are no numbers yet but full members do pay a tax.
