Quad channel on 3rd gen Ryzen?

Ryzen is dual channel, you'll just have 2 sticks per channel.

I'm a bit confused on memory channels and them being supported and all that jazz. If I have 4 sticks (what would be considered quad channel I think) of RAM, do I have four channels of bandwidth, or because the CPU doesn't support, only two channels?

No, two of your sticks are sharing one channel. You can only have two channels with Ryzen.

Quad channel would be four sticks working together, which Ryzen does not support. Ryzen only supports two sticks working together.

Ryzen does support four sticks of memory being installed, which would be two sets of dual channel.

You can only use 2 sticks (slots: 2 & 4) otherwise it's only gonna read half the ram

You have to explain your stance further, because what you said above does not make sense to me.

Are you saying I wouldn't be able to use slots 1 and 3 for memory at all? That's untrue and would not make sense (why include something one can not use?)

the cpu physically has 2 memory channels, so four sticks will result in 2 sticks per channel.

TR has 4 memory channels and TR pro has 8.

this thread made me watch this video

Spoiler

not sure if it'll answer OP, but i'll probably learn something about RAM

Things I need help with:

Spoiler

I hate Intel's pricing, Ryzen's weird quirks, Nvidia's pricing, and Radeon GPUs in general

Spoiler

Products I like:

Spoiler

Sony Xperia Z1 / Z2 / 10 ii, Asus Strix 970 / 1070, Samsung SSD, WD HDD, Corsair PSUs (AX, RM, CX(grey)), GeForce GPU, NZXT N450/S340, be quiet! Coolers, G.Skill Trident RAM, Logitech M525, Logitech G440, Razer Deathadder Elite

Products I hate:

Spoiler

Xperia Z3, XiaoMi 5c, Radeon GPUs, Razer Audio Products, any bloatwares

Companies I absolutely adore: (and hope it stays that way)

Spoiler

be quiet! - sent me AM4 mounting for my DRP3 even though it's way past the timeframe stated, no questions asked

Corsair - very good RMA experience, absolutely recommend

Companies I hate:

Spoiler

Nvidia, Intel, Apple, TMT (Thundermatch, a retailer)

Personal Blacklisted Companies:

Spoiler

Acer monitors, Gigabyte, Seagate HDD, Kingston SSD, Razer (except their mouse), XiaoMi Phones

Remember, just because I had good/bad experiences with these companies/product, doesn't mean you will have similar experiences too. I would still recommend these products if they made sense for your needs, but I'll add a disclaimer of my experience if it's relevant. Feel free to DM me asking why they are where they are.

You're not understanding any of it. It says what 2 slots you have to use if you only have 2 sticks, nothing to do with not being able to use 4 sticks.

While the information above is true, it's also completely irrelevant to the question asked by OP.

The question by OP is if  they can use four sticks of memory:

So it doesn't matter which banks they decide to put the memory in; since all four will be used anyways.

Sure, slots 2 and 4 should be used when using two sticks. When using four, just use all slots.

To be clear: Ryzen support 4 sticks of memory, which would be two sets of dual channel (to avoid confusion by the irrelevant info above).

Scratching my head...  What are you trying to say exactly?,

That OP will have trouble applying XMP with 4 dimms populated?,that contradicts what you said earlier:
