What components are you looking at?

Some 400 series boards (B450 and X470, though going with X470 today makes little to no sense) come with a recent enough BIOS version to run Ryzen 3000 out of the box.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

just ask the vendor before buying whether it suports 3000 out of the box (it should have a "3000 ready" sticker on the box).

otherwise, all b450 max boards from msi support 3000 series out of the box.

Most b450 boards right now are manufactured and comes out of the box with zen 2 support even if it doesn't list it

If you got an old b450 board just ask a computer store or the vendor if they can update it for you
