Warzone Stuttering

HeaT

I'm getting fps drops which is making the game stutter.

PC Specs:

i7-6700k

Asus Maximus VIII Hero

16gb Corsair Vengeance

Windows 10 fully updated running on SSD,

Warzone is installed on a secondary SSD.

2080 Super

asus pg278q @1440p

My average fps would be around 120ish but I'm getting drops down to as low as 80 which is causing the game to stutter. I've set all the graphics settings to the lowest, Set the resolution to 1080p but it's still dropping frames and causing the problem. Even If i set everything to max I get around the same FPS.

I've tried rolling back the GPU drivers to the warzone game ready drivers, I've even done a fresh install of Windows 10.

I have also tried what I could find on youtube to "fix" stuttering. Deleting Standby memory, running warzone with highest priority.

I've noticed that my GPU usage drops to about 80% then back up to 98/99% which seems like it's the cause of the fps drops.

Really at a loss here. Could my 6700k be bottlenecking the GPU? I've overclocked it to 4.6ghz but still happening.

I'm running the default bios on the motherboard, Could upgrading fix the issue?

Could the SSD that warzone is installed on be causing it?

What CPU and GPU temps do you have while gaming?

Early 60c on both, Just played a solo and ran a log on Afterburner.

Have you tried setting a frame limit? What settings are you playing at?

I have not, Going to set a fps limit to 144 to match refresh.

My settings ingame have changed so much the past few days trying to fix it.

Full Screen

Render Resolution 100

Nvidia highlights disabled

Texture detail High( have tried all from very low to high)

Then pretty much everything else on low or disable.

Edit - Just capped fps to 144 but still having the stuttering.

Going to test battlefield at some point. Witcher 3 was fine. My mate I'm playing warzone with has no problems. He has a 3600k with a 2080 super running 1080p.

Battlefield 1 seemed to run okay but the game is 4 years old.

Could my cpu be the bottleneck?

Played some more warzone still getting the drops.

My gpu runs at 96-99% usage then drops to 70-80% usage. My CPU doesn't go above 60% load.

Didn't work. My cpu  usage is around the 70-80% mark but ive seen it go up to high 90s when in the big citys. Seems like nobody knows what's wrong.

I've installed a fresh copy of windows 10  on my secondary ssd with just blizzard launcher, nvidia drivers, msi afterburner and core temp installed and its still dropping frames causing stuttering.

My mate whos playing with me has no problems running it. He is running at 1080p but i even changed to my 1080p monitor and it still dropped fps.

Changed all my settings to low or off and gpu usage is around 80% with cpu around 88%.

The same thing was happening to me with my much older rig (i5 2500k), after I limited the gameplay FPS to 60 the stuttering was gone.

  • 1 month later...

Just something to try that I have just found and am testing now - Turn off 'Windows Game Mode' (Settings/Gaming/Game Mode) in Windows settings.

Worth a shot...

How are you getting on with this, I have encountered the odd stutter here and there and after going back to 240hz monitors.

Warzone is a hog of a game. I'm trying to get linus to build a pc to test it. Is it the hardware or the game? Just dropped some money on a rig and I'm still not close to 240 fps. Seems like its the way the game is optimized because I can hit 240 fps on every other game np.

I think I have solved my issue by completely removing the Nvidia software using ddu, and then installing only the drivers, never installed the expeirence package.

Not had any more issues so far.

Are you using G-Sync? One of it's key features is removeing such stuttering.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

You should be able to download the driver only, or deselect experience as part of the install, might have to choose custom install to do this.
