AMD driver trashed my rig, now what?

OK. So tonight I figured I would give the 14.1 betas a go and see what Mantle is all about.

 

I went off to AMD and downloaded the new drivers, however I noticed that they say you have to completely remove the old ones using the express remover.

 

I do this, it asks for a reboot, I reboot.

 

Now I've got no keyboard, mouse or any other USB devices. I don't even have them at my boot selection screen, nor do they work to get me into safe mode of any kind.

 

I've tried booting from the Windows 8 disc and running system restore, but it won't run as it wants me to reboot into safe mode and select an install.

 

Please note - going nuclear and reinstalling is absolutely not an option.

 

All I can think of is that I can access the command line somehow and install a usb driver from there, but I have no idea how to do so as it's been years since I've done anything via a command line.

Oh and PS2 isn't an option either.

This is why i grabbed one of those 15+ year old Dell keyboards that they gave away at my university's datacenter. It is sticky and nasty but it has PS2. :P

 

Do you get into the BIOS? You cam maybe flash sth. from there.

who cares...

I can get into bios yes. Sadly that doesn't help at all.

 

I guess I could try disabling the USB controller, then re enabling it..

Nope that did nothing.

 

I need to know how to install a USB driver from the command line then.

windows 8 has a "Refresh your PC without affecting you files" option.  if it comes down to going nuclear, you can try that option first...

Yes. Sadly it's taken out the USB driver completely (like Driversweep does) so I'm screwed. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a PS2 keyboard :(

Yeah, really strange issue the TS has, I did something similar as well.....but with expected result. Found the Cat14.1, downloaded it......uninstall AMD display driver via control panel. Then upon reboot, ran Driver Sweeper and rebooted. Installed 14.1 and restarted with absolutely no issue at all.CF is instantly recognized in CCC and I was straight into BF4 Mantle and the Star Swarm Mantle test, no problemo....

You can try to connect the hdd to another pc and just delete the driver folder that way, maybe a bit ghetto but it is an option.
