this guy on youtube figured out how to defeat  the  throttle  with heat sinks and a cooling pad for the laptop  around the 10.57 min mark  test around the 11.20 min mark  I've updated my google doc with the drivers information again.  i will be testing  a new graphic card with my dock and have found a usb c to barrel plug that i use with my laptop i will continue to work on the google doc for those who are interested  this is my daily driver and the laptop has held up after about a year of heavy use

I've had this laptop for about 4 months now and have created a google doc for more info and as a info hub on it. It would be great if you guys can help me with it @BluJ can you send me a link to the driver dump  you made  and post any upgrades you made on the Google dock page. So far I really like the laptop and have been using it as my daily driver coming from the surface book and the surface pro family this is a bit heavier but paired with the dock is a great machine.
@ezio.cheung have you made any progress on the cooling mods?

im looking to try to convert the dc plug to usb c or just use a usb c to dc jack to convert it but i notice when i use the adapter the red charging light stays on for a while even after i unplug it so its back to the drawing bord on this idea for now

Is the External PCIe port OCuLink?

If it is that's amazing. I've always wanted external PCIe on a laptop, too bad it's only an eh laptop, especially because it's already multiple generations behind on the CPU....

My 6-yo laptop is starting to give me issues, and I'm actually thinking seriously about this.

The keyboard is an abomination. But I can at least remap the "delete" key back to right shift. I might not be able to remap the power key (it might be set up separately), but I can at least disable it in Windows so it won't turn the computer off. Having no dedicated function row, delete, etc. wouldn't be great. But the worst can be mitigated.

No doubt the RAM and SSD that ship with it are crap. But I'll order the minimum config anyway... it looks like it's quite expandable. Even the shitty BIOS might be smart enough to run ram at its rated speed.

And I expect the BIOS will be hacked soon enough. This feels like One of Those Things that a whole bunch of ... tinkerers ... end up getting all at once. And I wouldn't think this no-name manufacturer who's selling through old stock using a primitive BIOS would go out of their way to make it hard to modify or reverse engineer the BIOS. They've got nothing to protect there ... if somebody thinks of something better, their old stock goes up in price.

So I'm betting the BIOS issues, like the processor that won't turbo, RAM speeds, etc., get ironed out. (And even if they don't, the machine will drastically outperform my current laptop.)

So what's left? The top screen is kinda crappy. Maybe that can be replaced, but probably not. And I'm guessing I won't care that much.

And ... well ... the second screen is just really cool.

It's not a huge risk. It's sorely tempting.

Am I missing something important here?

One question. On the official Crelander AliExpress store, they seem to have a few different base prices for the same machine, Some are just different configs, but if you look, there are different base prices for the same ram/ssd setup for what look like identical machines. Is there any difference?

... and one more note. I noticed this picture in one of the AliExpress ads:

It appears to show a much better version of the keyboard and touchpad. There's an added row of function keys above the numbers, and three buttons above the touchpad. That gives "delete" and "power" somewhere else to go and regular order is restored to the Eastern Front.

For a while I was wondering whether there might be a more advanced version of the keyboard/trackpad module floating around.

After some reverse image searching, I'm pretty sure that's just the keyboard from the Asus dual-screen laptop. (Please correct me if I'm wrong).

EDIT: There's no chance that the manufacturer figured "in for a penny, in for a pound", and designed their keyboard and trackpad assembly to be hot-swappable for the Asus part, did they?

I mean ... that's what I'd do. Cut costs by offering a keyboard, and create a free upgrade path just by using the same screw mounts and pinout as the competition. This is why NeXT used ADB.

EDIT 2: I'm joyously overthinking this. But it occurs to me that the crappy keyboard is probably enough to keep prices down and tilt the market toward users that probably plan to remap it (i.e. nerdy tinkerer types). If that's who the remaining stock ends up with ... all the more reason to expect BIOS shennanigans.

    Any updates on this?

Back in late November it was reported that Tony Norman was stepping down as CEO of IFI and a replacement would be announced by the end of the year, but that's not happened yet.  In addition, there have been allegations of even worse behavior in the past few days.  IFI's approach to the controversy seems to be to not say anything and think that will make it go away, so I'm not surprised that they aren't responding to your inquiries.

I've switched to mITX  (Phanteks Shift) and would like to keep as low profile as possible. I truly only need a fast SSD, single GPU and a CPU in my setup. For everything else there is USB3.1 Gen2 and Gen1, but a 10GBe ethernet would be a must so I can access my NAS PC fast so I don't break the bank on local storage (plus the point is not to have it locally)

The only issue I noticed, is that sometimes my main monitor and the USB devices won't instantly power on. Usually it then just takes a minute or two and they finally start to function. But this seems to happen quite rarely now.

One thing that I added now to the server cabinet are glass doors:

I think that the comparisons they could not be taken too seriously...

Hear me out before you disagree with me, I do have some doubts after watching it.

In the vid, they did not even use the same mice every time, I mean why keep changing the competitors??
There were 3 sets of tests, and the competitors are:
            1:  mamba & ouroboros & sensei wireless
            2:  deathadder chroma & mamba
            3:  rival 300 & deathadder chroma
First of all, why change the competitor?? Why not let all the 5 other mouses showed up in the 3 tests?? Then give us a result, a chart or sth.

Second of all, at the 1st test, when mamba came out, Luke MANUALLY started the interference. When the g900 came out, he did not do that. The result that showed on the screen could be one that already been reset already. The G900 did perform better in the 1st test , but the whole thing felt rigged. Looks like logitech hand picked some of the tests then only showed you the one that G900 can win.

I know that this vid is sponsored by Logitech, and I admit that in all 3 tests the G900 wins hands down, there is no doubt. (I didn't know the sensei was that bad though) , but does it really matter?? As Luke in the vid said some of the tests are simulating some extreme circumstances that can only happen in a lab. It does show us that the G900 is more accurate than its rivals, but when it comes to practical uses how much does it matter? What I mean is that I am not gonna use it in the lab and connect it to the testing machine and looking at the result and feel good about it. Maybe I am too harsh on this vid... I don't know... What do you guys think??

Hello! First time poster. I'm here on behalf of my community to talk about RackSolutions, such as when they were featured in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyZSqfmN_0I

Recent allegations have come out from former employees involving sexual harassment, toxic workplace environment, and general Activision-Blizzardry.

RackSolutions is one of three subsidiaries of Innovation First International (IFI), and they also have ventures in educational (Vex Robotics) and toy (Hexbug) robotics. IFI shares and intermixes a lot of employees between all three of their subsidiaries and their core leadership is largely the same pool of people. Point is, no matter the division, you would likely at some point be coerced into one of the CEO Tony Norman’s house parties.

Recently, on the educational competition robotics side of things, a post on a major community forum was made concerning poor quality control on Vex products and questionable customer service practices. However, people soon also discovered IFI’s less-than-stellar Glassdoor page which detailed a very colorful image of how it is to work at IFI and RackSolutions/Vex/Hexbug. The common themes of the complaints are consistent across all three divisions of the company — the suckage permeates everywhere in Greeneville, Texas.

It's a heavy story with some disturbing themes, so I'm going to leave the bulk of it behind this spoiler (cw: sexual harassment, general harassment, general Bad Time)
The collective community reaction so far has been intense. Many highschool robotics teams following that thread have sworn off buying IFI/Vex products. Including, notably, 6 of the 9 #TeamIFI teams that the company directly sponsors to promote their brand in FIRST Robotics. [one] [two] [three] [four] [five] [six] with the rest possibly following. All of these teams compete a high level and are generally widely respected in the community. Additionally, many of these teams have smaller classroom-level programs highly reliant on Vex parts and educational material, so switching off IFI products constitutes a non-insignificant financial and labor hurdle.

When this story also spread to /r/battlebots, many commentators additionally expressed their wishes to boycott the products IFI sells to them under their Hexbug brand as well (toys, combat robot parts, etc.) One poster even mentioned they were reconsidering applying to IFI for an engineering internship after what they had read.

In conclusion, we, the competition robotics community that helped birth IFI and RackSolutions, have pretty deep concerns, and hope that LMG finds this information useful.

edit: I am told that LTT is featured prominently on the RackSolutions homepage: https://www.racksolutions.com/
