it's my least favourite feature of displayport. the standard is such that a display that isnt 'displaying' will disconnect itself from the device.
 
your best bet to work around this, is to use a different standard, it's part of the reason why i'm still on DVI.
 
having that said.. i think there may be displayport dongle thingies that go in between the pc and your monitor that clip out the 'monitor disconnected' signaling. i vaguely recall seeing them somewhere.

You're wondering why LTT used the GTX 1080Ti or GTX 1080 in videos instead of the RX 5700 or Radeon VII? It should be pretty obvious. The AMD cards didn't exist when they were making those videos that featured the GTX 1080 or GTX1080 Ti. The AMD cards were released years later.


Edit: Also, where did you get the prices for the Nvidia cards from? The 1080Ti had a MSRP starting at $699 USD. Not $949.
Regardless it's kind of a moot point trying to compare prices of cards that are no longer being sold. You can pick up a 1080Ti 2nd hand for around $350. Maybe cheaper if you find a good deal. GTX 1080 or GTX 1070 Ti (practically same performance) can be had for around $250ish 2nd hand. Cheaper than a new RX 5700.

I actually found a great replacement battery that uses the same connector, has a higher capacity, and matches the voltage. It even fits inside the casing. Easy install and no soldering required. It's made for baby monitors but works great: AOTU 1500mAh Replacement Battery

I mean that classification of Apple is only semi-accurate. They're just as much a software company as Microsoft is. I guess the contention is that Apple doesn't charge for their operating system in the traditional sense whereas Microsoft does, but Apple is still a large software developer.
 
As for the question, I don't know. I think Apple ultimately does a good job at creating a cohesive ecosystem, though I could never replace Windows with it since I'm a xXxG4M3R4LYF3xXx

I type for the most part with my left hand, use my mouse with either, depending on which computer im using, I drink with my left, I eat with my right,   Brush with my right or left depending on the day. I guess im omnidexterous, it continues like that.

Typically it is determined by what hand you write with, but I think it can be better determined by your most dominant hand.

@Sierra Fox is correct. Whenever possible, physically give the owner/manager your cover letter and resume. Being well dressed, direct eye contact, friendly smile, no mumbling and a firm handshake will get you farther than you'd think. Doing all of these puts face to your name on the resume. After the fact, calling to inquire makes the owner/manager recall the encounter and shows you care. Even if you're young and inexperienced, a good first impression can make all the difference.
