Given the specs, regardless of construction materials, I suspect the market would be tiny. These days 30+ HDD would be found in enterprise data centers and nowhere else.

I suspect that anyone considering a wood case is more concerned with appearance than drive capacity. Besides, modern desktops and gaming systems have little to no need for gobs of storage.

Corsair 4000D Airflow is one of the best selling cases, you would do well to consider how that ubiquitous design would work in wood.

The dual motherboard design is interesting and there is demand for such. Both Corsair and Phanteks have dual system designs, but neither accommodate two ATX motherboards.

I assume that $200 is just for the case? You won't be getting an EATX board, 30 HDDs, 30 SSDs for that price... personally I don't there's a market for that either. Love the idea of a wood case but why have 2 separate systems for (Server, I assume, since EATX) and NAS, why not just combine it for a storage server. Both in one case... a little unconventional and unnecessary

Thank you. Yes, $200 is an estimate of the price of the case. Not all internals, they'd be DIY.
Also, supports up to EATX, doesn't HAVE to have EATX.
It was more 1 like Window (for example) machine and 1 TrueNAS (for example) machine to have them on separate power supplies and different Ports. Because this was designed for my use case I only therefore I thought about my needs, and this is just proving to a teacher a market case.
Thank you so much for replying! And this was merely meant to clear those parts. Thank you!

Standoffs don't matter as long as the board is secure.

I'd suggest checking all of the mounting pressures of things, and making sure that everything is mounted again properly. Take out all the things you readily can, and make sure that they were plugged in properly to begin with. Make sure you haven't accidentally slot-shifted the graphics card. Double check the HDMI or DisplayPort cable. Make sure the monitor has power. Make sure the monitor is selecting the correct port to receive from.

If that doesn't work, I may have a few more slightly more outlandish ideas later.

Is that a DVI port with a HDMI next to it on the graphic card? Because then it could be the DVI cable that's gone caput. But you should upgrade that card soon anyway. The rest will live for now. Though a drive upgrade wouldn't be bad either at some point.
Also, not trying to be mean, probably a good idea to give the case a good dusting inside and out.

Did you do the same with your M.2?
With it not crashing while doing Cinebench: once it loads all the pieces it wants, it barely touches your drives. But just having the OS running is bouncing around all over the places of your drives. Just the same as playing a game.

Bearpaddocks got a reaction from linuxChips2600 in Is it ok if i accidently toutched the pcbs of the mobo
It'll be perfectly fine. I've touched many different parts of a few mobos and they still all work perfectly fine. It's designed that you can only really destroy it by trying to short it out or by bending something. In theory. I know that they can also be destroyed much easier than that, but it's the theory behind it.

Also, don't hate me for this, you don't have to use an anti-static wrist strap. I have put together 2 laptops, and 3 PC's many times and they haven't been destroyed by it. But I would recommend you having your computer in a NON-GROUNDABLE place (Plastic table, wood floor, something not conductive) and either you be on the same surface, or you be on a "grounded" place (Like the ground. Or a metal floor). Though you really should wear an anti-static wrist strap. I'm just being lazy and don't want to buy one. And either way, use the plugged-in (But turned OFF) power supply to ground yourself every few mins.
Would NOT recommend building on like a metal table or a freezer top or something like that.
LTT has also done a video though with ElectroBoom showing that it really takes a LOT to kill your parts with static. But don't try it yourself if you value your hardware.

Really depends on the game too. Something like Cities will test your computer very differently to Fortnight which will do different than Mario brothers. It could just be that the game wants the parts to work more than they need to to try and make things smother for you.
If you're really worried about the hitches, then see if you can make it a stable framerate in the settings. I had similar looking thing in Halo CE, but setting it to a "constant expected speed" really smoothed thing out.

So after making this I did think of a possible interesting use for the old parts. Using it to build an arcade machine with emulation like how some do with raspberry pi. Found a button kit on amazon for about $35 and I have a few old monitors so I'm gonna try building a cabinet and doing that.

If I had kids I would probably go with setting it up for them, but didn't think of F@H that would be another good use for it.

The thought of using it to set up security cameras also crossed my mind, but having space invaders and pac man on an arcade machine in my basement sounds more fun.
Hope you also find a good use for the old AM2+ stuff and thanks for the suggestions and the welcome!

I would say either expand your NAS if you can, or use it for F@H for the time being. If not, any kids? Great first time rig for not real demanding stuff.
Or if you really have noting else for it, use it for experimenting with new concepts/ideas that you want to try but aren't willing to risk a high end system. If it's not THAT important to you.

    Also, welcome to the forum!

I've got the same thing (Old AM2+ board & parts & no use), so I have the same question and also open to ideas as I have a lack of software and HDD's to build a NAS.

I'm an Aussie from a couplea' hours up from Melbourne.
Part prices do vary a lot by store (So shop around like 10 stores rather than just 2-3) and have varying promotions at seeming random times of the year.
Yes, we do have the 10% GST cost included in the price of the product which does make them sound more expensive than other countries. Which they may well be.

My point being, shop around a lot. And don't make any spur of the moment buys because it looks decent. If one place has something on special, there is probably a VERY good reason for it and someone else is likely to have the same or better.

Could you PLEASE do a video that has an alternative to Adobe Flash for we poor unfortunate souls who still have to use it for most of our gaming?
Because I'm sure that I am not the only one who still needs Flash, but not software savvy enough to figure out something on our own.

Gonna' seem like an unusual one, but the easiest I've found so far for a newbie: Zorin.
I haven't "needed" to touch the command line ONCE (Have done to experiment though) and works straight out of the "box". If I wanted to, I think I could run the whole OS FULLY off a USB but not tried yet (Need better USB and ports). Brilliant for the old computers that I needed to put it on. Could be used as a daily driver, but I'm not at that stage yet.
Also, VERY easy to get online and install anywhere you want.
If anyone has suggestions for any other system that would be worth a try, tell me. I wanna know! I wanna learn! And I'm open to trying out new OS's.
